First, ask the person about their faith background and then give your own salvation testimony. Being personal with them lets the person know that you care about them and you are not trying to lecture them, but you truly want the best for them. After that, ask the person, "If you were to die today, are you sure that you would go to heaven?" When that person responds no or I don't know, tell them that in a couple of minutes you can show them how they can know for sure.
Next, you'll need to use your knowledge of the Bible to show them that that can have eternal life in heaven. Cite Romans 3:23 which states that we all have sinned. "For we all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" (King James Version) Then show them Romans 6:23 that states the penalty of sin is death and hell. "For the wages of sin is death." (KJV) Next comes the most important parts. Show them Romans 5:8, in which it says that Jesus paid the penalty for all of our sins by dying on the cross. "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (KJV) Lastly, show them Romans 10:13, which is the basis of salvation. If we believe that Jesus died for our sins and receive Christ into our hearts and know that only He can save us, God will save you from eternal life in hell. "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (KJV)
Thirdly, you will need to help them to receive Christ as their Savior. Tell them to bow their head in prayer and you pray and ask God to help this person to be willing to accept Jesus Christ into their heart. Ask the person to now pray aloud and receive Christ by repeating a prayer after you. The prayer should go something like this: Dear Jesus, forgive me of my sins and come into my heart. I trust you today to take me to heaven when I die. Thank you Lord for saving me. Amen.
Lastly, give the person some assurance of their salvation by showing them John 3:36, which reads, "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life: but the wrath of God abideth on him." (KJV) The last step is to tell them that it is their duty now to lead others to the Lord and make their salvation public in the local church. Use the passages of Romans 10:11 and Matthew 10:32 for reference.
