The "A Christmas Carol" train tour is a Disney promotion to advertise the movie "A Christmas Carol" starring Jim Carrey as Scrooge and the spirits that visit him. The film is based on the famous Charles Dickens book of the same name. This film is done entirely in performance-capture 3D and is directed by Rob Zemeckis.
The tour began in Los Angeles in May and will end after 40 stops across the United States in New York in November. The train tour will be four vintage railcars with behind- the- scenes attractions, demonstrations, and activities related to the movie. The train is a museum of artifacts from the Charles Dickens Museum in London, England along with props and costumes from the film. Visitors will be able to see how the performance-captured technology works by using a picture of their face to create a character.
Outside, there will be a temporary theater that will seat 120 people at a time to view a sneak peek of the movie, complete with 3D picture and sound. This will give each visitor a chance to see the technology working in the film and the opportunity to see a piece of the film to understand more about the train.
The train will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Bargersville on Wednesday September 9,2009. Admission is free and open to the public and there will be several vendors set up to offer activities, food, and drinks to the visitors. Townspeople are looking forward to the added business that the train brings into town. Store windows and homes are both being decorated with wreaths, candles, Santa Claus', and other Christmas decorations to welcome visitors into town and to let the Disney staff know that the are proud to host the train tour.
Visitors who travel to Bargersville may be in need of a hotel. Although, Bargersville does not have any accommodations, nearby cities like Franklin and Greenwood have many and would be glad to welcome the visitors to their towns. Both cities are a bit larger than Bargersville and have plenty of restaurants and hotels to accommodate the weary traveler.
What a nice event to be able to attend and enjoy the holiday spirit that it brings with it while enjoying a sneak preview of a classic movie such as " A Christmas Carol".
