A Christmas Poem: Tumbling to Earth

H. L. Myers
Lying on lawns, huddled in plastic

Snowflakes falling, tumbling to earth

Adverts in newspapers summon the shoppers

Snowflakes falling, tumbling to earth

Parking lots turn into dueling rings

Snowflakes falling, tumbling to earth

Shoppers are racing, each clutching a prize

Snowflakes falling, tumbling to earth

They battle for toys and they battle for jewelry

Snowflakes falling, tumbling to earth

"If my gift isn't perfect my Christmas will fail!"

Snowflakes falling, tumbling to earth

Some stand on street corners, ringing a bell

Snowflakes falling, tumbling to earth

While families gather in homes full of love

Snowflakes falling, tumbling to earth

Sheltering warm from the chill winter weather

Snowflakes falling, tumbling to earth

Everyone takes part in trimming the tree

Snowflakes falling, tumbling to earth

Children hang stockings, their hearts filled with hope

Snowflakes falling, tumbling to earth

The gift of togetherness reigns over all

Snowflakes falling, tumbling to earth
