A Christmas Poem for the World

So are the rest of us and that is that.

We like all our things, our toys, our stuff,

But a lot of people really have it tough.

They're barely getting by these days,

The rat race of life seems like a maze.

Some are hungry, cold, and tired,

They had jobs, but they were fired.

Families starving, babies crying,

In order to save them, many are trying,

By giving help, shelter, or food,

All while staying in quite a good mood.

So take a minute this Christmas season,

And give some cheer for the right reason.

Help someone, give something, and smile a lot,

Do the things now that we mostly do not.

Just lending a hand or holding a door,

That's all it takes to be something more.

Cook a meal for someone who can't get around,

That's where joy will truly be found.

So when you're in that nice warm bed,

With a pillow snugly under your head,

Say a prayer for all those in need,

And when you're called, please take heed.
