If you are looking for a tour led by someone with expertise on Chicago's movie history, you might want to schedule a guided tour. These will most likely cost more than a self-guided tour, but you will have a guide to give you all the details. These are also a good option if you are limited on time.
Brain Snack Tours offers a guided Chicago Cinema Tour. Simply let them know where you want to start and end your tour, some basic interests and how long you would like the tour to last, and they will design a custom tour for you. Tours typically last between two and four hours.
Chicago Film Tour will take you on a bus tour of 30 locations where more than 50 movies were filmed. The company offers two tours daily, Thursday through Sunday. Book your tickets online, as seating is limited to 45 per tour.
