A Clue to the Future or 2012

In the early 1990's I heard of a place in the state of Georgia where a group of secret financiers had constructed an American Stonehenge out of Granite. These were called the Georgia Guidestones and they were said to provide ten instructions for rebuilding civilization sometime in the future. The site was Elberton, Georgia and it was officially erected in March of 1980. As the specter of 2012 grows closer there will no doubt be more reactions to the possibility of such an event in social, business and political circles. While this could cost us dearly even if nothing happens on Dec. 21, 2012 we must first take the journey to finding out just what was constructed for our rebirth in Georgia.

The Georgia Guidestones are not just a Stonehenge in the British sense of an ancient druid circle of large boulders. This set of stones would provide the same ten instructions in eight languages, plus another four on a twelve ton capstone in four very ancient languages. The 4,000 letters blasted into the granite were insured to be accurate by local college and university language experts, clergymen and even folks at the United Nations.

As there were four major support stones with a total of eight sides the following are the languages, with how they are positioned relative to one another. There is one stone that has English on one side and Spanish on the other, with English facing Russian and Spanish facing Swahili. On another stone is Swahili and Hindi, with Hindi facing Hebrew. The Hebrew-Arabic block has Arabic facing Chinese and the Chinese-Russian block completes the eight languages with Russian facing English. Each of these four stones is 16 feet, four inches high and weighs over 6 tons each. The center stone is also 16 feet, four inches high and weighs 20,957 pounds.

The capstone to this collection of five massive granite blocks weighs in at 24,832 pounds. There is only one instruction on the capstone and it reads, "Let these be Guidestones to an Age of Reason" The four ancient languages chosen represent this direction were: Classic Greek, Babylonian Cuneiform, Sanskrit and Egyptian Hieroglyphics. Overall height of the guidestones is 19 feet, 3 inches with a total weight of 237,746 pounds. This is hardly a task for any group that is not serious.

In this article we will attempt to unravel some of the mystery and shed some light on the meaning of what intend to be the basis for the future of mankind, at least those that survive on the North American continent.

Following a few years of patiently waiting the opportunity arrived for me to take a long drive from St. Louis, Missouri to Elberton, Georgia in 2001. The photographs in this article are a testament to that. Upon arrival in the town of Elberton a deer rudely greeted me by stepping in front of my car around 3AM. Fortunately, a last minute swerve rendered my vehicle driveable with only minor damage, the deer's fate, sad to say was terminal.

Following that run-in I went to what appeared to be the only open convenience store in town and found the local sheriff on duty more than willing to talk about my eventful arrival after nearly 17 hours on the road. Following my report and a lot of conversation about all the deer strikes, my time in the service, we discussed my purpose and the good Sheriff was more than happy to tell me who I should go see about the nearby Guidestones. Also, he inferred it was a group of Masons that financed the whole thing and the local Elberton Granite Company was about the only company capable and willing to make this dream a reality.

Since there was a full moon that night and no one watching the Guidestones I thought I would camp out there for a few hours and insure that I get the best light of the rising sun for pictures and video the next day.

It truly was a mystical experience that night and equally as beautiful was the sunrise on the monument. It seemed the light beamed off the granite to bring out different colors as the sun climbed from the horizon.

With the sun up, I confirmed all I had heard about the Guidestones and their ten instructions for the future of mankind to be absolutely true. It appears the planners wanted each instruction in eight different languages to insure that whatever was left of mankind would have a way to rebuild the next civilization.

After the photos and video were done I did visit the actual office of the Elberton Granite Company and found a very willing group of knowledgeable folks who had been involved in one way shape or form with turning dreams into Guidestones. It was clear that while they knew those who paid for the stones were Masonic, it was clear they preferred that this does not become a popular public perception. As Masons will often admit to, "We are not a secret society, but a society with secrets." The pursuit of these secrets for the curious acts as a recruiting tool to an organization in which only very, very few may have a grasp of the larger historical picture and how it plays in our upcoming future.

When you read the actual instructions for mankind it becomes clear immediately that they felt that another great upheaval or unravelling of civilization would take place in the near future or at least within the next 40 years or less, perhaps even 2012?

As anyone who watches the History, Science, Discovery, A&E or other media outlets there have been a plethora of specials about the potential of massive redistribution of water and land in the near future. With the advent of the new movie 2012 others will no doubt be drawn into the vortex of a possible future where running water may mean a 1,000 foot tall tidal wave greeting your coastal city.

Even if you are sceptical about Mayan predictions for 2012, there were others who shared similar beliefs about other great civilizations which have rose and fell before what we know as recorded history. Atlantis, The Rama Empire of Ancient India, perhaps the lost continent of MU.
Today, Geologists tell us that every 600,000-800,000 years the Yellowstone volcanic systems unleash a massive explosion on the scale of which there is nothing to compare. Currently, we are in the red zone awaiting the next one as it has been around 640,000 years since the last one and the magma has grown considerably below the crust. OK, maybe Yellowstone remains calm for another 50,000 years, whew! Then again if Yellowstone blows it could trigger global climate change by blocking out the sun for many months.

What about the possible water displacement due to volcanic activity and an earthquake near the island of La Palma near the Canary Islands? Steve Connor, Science Editor for the Independent London reported that projections have been done on what could be expected to happen with such an eruption and the ensuing Tsunami. Apparently a wave height of up to 330 feet would hit the cost of Morocco with the Tsunami trailing off slightly when it hits the east coast and Caribbean around the United States. Computer models believe the wave will be travelling up to 500 miles an hour and have a height of 130-164 feet by the time it gets to Brazil and the east coast of America.

What about an extraterrestrial event? An asteroid strike or perhaps the official announcement of the arrival of an alien race from a distant planet? Any of these events could easily be seen as the death of an old civilization and the birth of a new one. How many will survive depends on which event or combination of events get served up.

Mystery about those behind the Guidestones

In order to insure our species has an idea what to do next, representatives of this very ancient order of Masons decided to leave us with guidelines. A man who called himself R.C. Christian consulted the Elberton Granite Company and discussed the project with Joe Fendley, the President of the company at the time. Fendley said, "The man wanted to build a monument and I told him we were wholesalers and didn't handle small individual orders". As the story goes R.C. persisted explained his plan and Fendley was told to check with the local bank president regarding a deposit locally to back up the order.

Fendley checked with Wyatt C. Martin the President of Granite City Bank and found that what he was told about the deposit was true, a large deposit in the upper five digit range.
While it was clear from his own admission that R.C. Christian was not his real name the money was real enough and the project began in 1979.

Regarding the reason for the construction of the Guidestones R.C is reported to have said, "Should there be a holocaust in the civilized world, the group wished the Guidestones to be one of the most enduring things to help humanity start anew".

Along with these guidelines are the points that should be discussed about them and just what kind of future may be ahead for the human race either by natural, man made efforts, or man-made efforts made to appear artificial.

What the Guidestones recommend

Guidestone Instruction #1
Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
Apparently, those riding helm on what is believed to enough people for this planet are ready to rely a lot more on technology and less on taxing to death a bigger number of people.

Since there are approximately 6.6 billion people on the planet, over 6 billion will have to go. As to where there are no suggestions from the Guidestones. It seems that the Terminator will have to rise up for this one and target most of the population for extermination in order to meet this first instruction.

Perhaps from the perspective of R.C. Christian and folks of this elitist nature the figure of 500 million would be far easier to manage than 5 or 6 billion starving earthlings.

Guidestone Instruction #2
Guide reproduction wisely-improving fitness and diversity
Perhaps my sensors are a little thick with tales of selective genocide but does anyone see this as a guidestone towards eugenics?

So who manages reproduction? Do we conjure up a world like the one Aldous Huxley wrote about in his book, Brave New World? What a wonderful place Huxley had devised a world where babies are created in test tubes and engineered for their life-long careers before they are born. People in Huxleys world self-medicate for everything with a drug called Soma, it keeps them from asking questions. As the political landscape is constantly redefining words like inflation, recession and even "is", fitness and diversity could mean something quite different than what it appears. Fitness could be relative to your health for your pre-programmed job of which there could be variety of options, all of course related to the same job.

In the event of a major cataclysm science could do a lot of genetic working on that fitness aspect as well as social engineering on the diversity side. Development of more of a hive mentality and obedience without question would be a likely outcome.

In societies which have little respect for the individual imagination and innovation often become casualties. Hey! Perhaps that can be genetically engineered into the mix to, so you can have a group of six to ten creative geniuses who just think up things all day? Wow! What a country?

Instruction #3
Unite humanity with a living new language.
A living new language? Is this an existing language or one that has yet to be composed? Why trash virtually every other language on the planet and start a fresh one? Or perhaps just adopt one which has the biggest numbers of users, even if they are in mostly the poorer less advanced countries.

What should be noted is that language is a key to uniting any group of people. For those who are demanding the United States adopt second, third or fourth languages and not demand that those living hear speak the language, even Masons recognize that language is a key to unity, not diversity of languages.

Instruction #4
Rule Passion-Faith-Tradition and all things with tempered reason.
This seems like another implication that there will be a type of religious governance of the practice of faith with our new civilization. While the U.S. Constitution does not truly provide for separation of church and state only that the state will not mandate which religion will be practiced in the state, clearly this is an infringement on those who may consider themselves of another faith.

In the event members of a faith are deemed to be too dangerous tempered reason will raise its head and strike out to control those transgressions. So much for religious freedom?

Instruction #5
Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts
Courts are only as good as the people who run them and the justice only as good as the laws that are enforced fairly.

If justice is ever to be fully realized in our court systems again there needs to be found a way to get people of a higher level of integrity involved. Many simply don't like the political requirements to accept the level of graft and corruption that exists today in our system, not to mention the rest of the world.

By being satisfied by comparing ourselves to lesser countries we can always justify further pursuit to the bottom rung of the ladder in any category.

Instruction #6
Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court
It appears that the future will have courts with vast armies or some other power to make those countries obey even when it puts them at a serious economic or military disadvantage.

In the event the United States or any other nation has issues with allowing a group of other countries dictate its international policy or interfere in its sovereignty than how do you get them to submit?

One major key to submission is playing International economic cards like corporate taxes. According to the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) the United States has one of the top corporate tax rates in the world at 40%. This tax rate is a major hurdle for investors when they can go pay Mexico 28%, Britain at 28%, Hungary at 20% or Ireland at 12.5%.

Taxes as well as military pressure are levels of coercion designed to force submission to any international court authority. This is a tricky slope as that would likely be interpreted as surrendering by many. That will only lead to more disputes not less.

Instruction #7
Avoid petty laws and useless officials
Finally, a guidestone rule that sounds like a good thing. However, who determines what is petty and who is useless? Throughout history growth of all countries and corporations has spawned sprawling bureaucracies, which in turn give birth to redundant, useless and way to often corrupt officials. With the growth of bureaucracy common sense dies.

Instruction #8
Balance personal rights with social duties
This seems like another attempt to redefine what personal rights according to a new international standard are. By justifying abolishing what rights we have today because they don't meet up a new social duty or volunteer standard our personal rights could be limited.
America has always been strong at volunteering to help others. If at any time making that a law and mandating a number of hours for citizens to volunteer will create nothing but ill will among many. There have been suggestions in several states for high school students to serve a minimum of 75 hours in a state-approved community service program.

We have volunteering being exchanged for a state approved mandated number of hours to what is called community service, which voids any rights we thought we had, what does that sound like?

Instruction #9
Prize truth-beauty-love-seeking harmony with the infinite
The Infinite can easily be translated to whatever perception you have of that divine being or God in your life.

In the event our civilization ever does collapse, how the traditions, faiths change, react or fail will determine much about the morality of whatever comes next.

Truths, love, seeking harmony are truly great prizes if only they could ever be recognized for what they are regardless of where they are. In our wild and crazy society today rushing to make the next buck could certainly be tempered more with questions about the truth, the importance of love and finding ways to seek harmony with nature and others in our lives.

Instruction #10
Be not a cancer on the earth-Leave room for nature-Leave room for nature
This is one of the odd guidestones as it intentionally repeats the phrase Leave room for nature. Some believe it could be part of a code with a hidden meaning behind the stones and key for it somewhere close by.

This instruction clearly serves as a warning for mankind to be aware of his effect on the environment. No doubt global warming fanatics will pick up on this one as it would appear that the authors of this monument may be perceived as knowing that mankind is a cancer on the earth.
With the politicization of science and its pursuit of programs to bring money to causes, beliefs and general personal fortune, it is becoming increasingly difficult to see if they have left any room for truth.

What else is intriguing about the Guidestones?
Current alignment of the stones allows the knowing user to see the Equinox Sunrise, the Winter Solstice Sunrise and the maximum south of the rise of the Moon. At night the stars of Polaris, the North Star and others have predictable patterns which could be used for study by the new astronomers to come.

Also, six feet under descriptive statistics of the guidestones is a time capsule, which no doubt will have even more to guide a future generation of wandering refugees who may know little or nothing about the sciences, celestial mechanics, history and just what they are really looking at.

For those favoring a study of numbers, the Georgia Guidestones have a lot to offer.
Submitted to be added, up, the Guidestones are in Elbert County, which has highways 17,72,77,79 and 172. The stones were constructed on an area about 700 feet above sea level on land that was formerly known as the Double Seven Ranch. You can see the Guidestones about 700 feet from highway 77 and seven miles from what one local Cherokee Indian says is the center of the world.

There were plans for a further encirclement of stones around the massive granite configuration that exists now. According to those at the Elberton Granity company the money just ran out.

Whether you are a tourist looking for an off-beat kind of attraction or someone who is actually researching what future surprises might be in store for mankind, the Georgia Guidestones offer up a good conversation piece for your next travelogue.

Of the many archeological mysterious in the world today, the Georgia Guidestones are perhaps amongst the most accessible for now. At least until the coast line changes, or not.
