A Collection of Associated Content Comments I Have Received

I have spent the majority of this weekend sharing comments with others on Associated Content and receiving some back.

It seems that no matter how good or bad the writer is, socializing on the site is one way to gather page views and fans.

I admit I have been guilty of the smiley and the generic, "Good article!" comment.

However some of my stories have generated some very good comments, that I feel as many as possible need to read.

So I have decided to list some of those here, since in most cases, once a person has read an article, it is rare that visit the article again.

I will began with some of the comments that my latest article, ChemoTales Volume 3 has received.

First: are two comments left by my friend that I referred to in the article. I will reprint the comments as posted and not edit them. She writes:

"Well once again my friend you have hit the nail on the head! In my situation my daughter Brandi was there every step of the way and still is. Even after the Radiation, Chemo, and surgery not to mention being the LONE CARETAKER of being in the house 24/7 actually learning to be nurse, doctor, wife, friend and most of all worried sick about bills and how you are going to continue making those trips not to mention spirit wise but money wise!!! Wonder where all the help is that everyone is offering???? But they make it to Bingo and ball games, not us we have other things to do. RIGHT??Like the "fun" things, cleaning up after they are so sick they don't seem able to go another day or cleaning to make sure there's no germs around, or oh yeah washing bedding everyday because of the blood & etc. Life is good though because we have made it to see tomorrow!!"

She continues in a second comment: "Sorry for the typo's.. No contacts in and I get so worked up over people and their pretending to care or want to help. Lord, I could go on and on about this. The bottom line is Cancer is bad and so far my husband is doing great, but here we go again my brother-in-law has just been diagnosed with cancer and will have surgery in a week in Enid. So it's back on the road again because my sister has MS and there will be no one to help them. My advice to anyone who is sick whether it's cancer or just a cold, show them you honestly do care & want to help. Even if it's sitting for a couple of hours so the caretaker can take a breath. We have been through this for 5 yrs. now and I wouldn't wish this on my WORST enemy. I'll get off my soapbox now but people just think before you say"what can I do?' If you say it DO IT !! Caretakers don't need PILLS they need HELP!"

There is another comment that the article generated that I like to share. It was left by

A part of the comment reads: "People can be so rude. One of the most horrible comments I got from somebody after my Daddy died and I was extremely depressed was "It sounds like your depressed." That made things worse. Duh?"

Once again I hope my article and the above comments will help some think before they speak.

Also this month I published an article on having a mammogram in hopes of easing the fears of those who have not experienced this yet.

Squish Squash I was Having a Mammogram has generated 34 comments and most of those have been more than the standard smiley.

Judging by some of the comments left, I believe I have helped some. One such comment was left by Linda M. McCloud. It says "Never had one. But I am due one. Thanks for explaining how it is done. You have calmed my fears a little."

The next comment I would like to highlight takes us back to my Chemo Tales series. This comment is from Volume 1 and was left by J P Whickson. It says, "This is a great read and particularly important for people just finding out they have cancer or a family member has cancer."

Thanks J P and I'm glad that you feel that way and once I again I hope that it is helpful to others.

Another message that I believe needs to be communicated has to do with a Medicare drug plan late fee.

So I published Diamonds Are Forever and So is the Medicare Drug Plan Late Fee

This is the story about how seniors are charged a late fee for the remainder of time if they sign up for Humana after the deadline.

Kassidy Emerson read the article and said "This permanent late fee is outrageous. This gouging sounds like something a credit card company would pull."

She is right and my hope is some how some way this information makes it way to lawmakers who may not be aware of this, and maybe this will end.

All in all I have published 162 pieces and in many cases the goal has been to educate, inform, and in some cases entertain. That is what a writer does. Judging by the comments I have received, these goals of mine are being achieved.

I may not have any badges on my profile and I have not earned a million page views for summarizing the latest television news and entertainment stories, but at least I'm trying to make a difference.
