A Comprehensive List of Waterfalls Thought the Upper Peninsula of Michigan

This is part II of a comprehensive litany of 197 document-able waterfalls in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The waterfalls listed here within can be enjoyed during all seasons adding a different aspect of the seasonal beauty they hold. My suggestion for viewing these waterfalls are in the Spring, where the flow of water from the ice and snow-melt provides the full power of these waterfalls to be adorned. Some of these waterfalls are in locations that are very remote and treacherous here in the Upper Peninsula forest, and caution should be heeded. The forest in the Upper Peninsula is also inhabited by many woodlands creatures, both large and small. I also ask that you respect the land and enjoy with your eye's and leave only foot-prints behind.

Manabezho Falls

10 miles north of Thomaston on a improved trail with a walking time of at least 15 minutes to view the 20 foot vertical drop.

Manganese Falls

From Copper Harbor follow US-41 to Lake Manganese Road, then turn right, about .7 miles you will find a unimproved trail and can expect a 5 to 10 minute walk to view the 20+ foot vertical drop. *Please proceed with extra caution for you may walk right into a chasm if your not careful.

Manakik Falls

11 miles Northwest of Bessemer.

Manindo Falls

12 miles north of Thomaston on a improved trail after a 15 minute walk will discover a vertical drop of 5 to 20 feet.

Margeson Falls

9 miles Northeast of Crystal Falls.

Meepikon Falls

1/2 miles north of Ramsay.

Mex-I-Min-E Falls

6 miles northwest of Watersmeet on a improved trail and can expect a 5 to 10 minute walk to witness the 5 to 20 foot drop.

Miners Falls

On the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and 3 1/2 miles north of H-58 on Miners Castle Rock you will find a improved trail and a long 45 minute walk to view the vertical 20 foot drop of the falls.

Morgan Falls

3 1/2 miles southwest of Marquette, right across from Marquette Mountain you will find a unimproved trail and a short 5 minute walk to view the 5 to 20 foot drop. You may have to use a very slippery log that's in place to cross an adjacent creek to get to the lower portion of the falls. In the Summer many underage locals have used this spot to drink and have done some significant damage by cutting down trees for firewood. Me and my sons have done the best we could as to clean-up the area and report this activity to the DNR.

10 1/2 miles northeast of Munising

Nawadaha Falls

12 miles north of Thomaston on a improved trail and a short 5 minute walk to view the 5 to 20 foot drop.

Niagra Dam

2 miles south of Quinnesec.

Nimikon Falls

13 miles west of Bergland.

No Name Falls

4 miles south of Herman.

Nokomis Falls

10 miles north of Thomaston.

Nonesuch Falls

Ogima Falls

10 miles north of Thomaston.

Oginakwe Falls

8 miles north of Thomaston.

O-Kum-De-Kun Falls

8 miles north of Bruce Crossing you can find a improved trail and can expect a walking time of 20 to 45 minutes to witness the 20+ foot vertical drop.

Onion Falls

7 miles northwest of Kenton.

Overlooked Falls

Within the beautiful Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park you will find a improved trail and can expect to take a 5 to 15 minute walk to view the 5 to 20 foot vertical drop.

Pewabeck Falls

6 miles southeast of Silver City there is barely a trail on this 20-45 minute trek to witness nothing more than a little 5 foot vertical falls drop.

Pinnacle Falls Dam

8 miles southwest of Big Bay.

Potawatomi Falls

10 1/2 miles Bessemer on a improved trail with a expected 15 minute walk to discover the 20+ foot vertical drop.

Powderhorn Falls

2 miles northwest of Bessemer.

Power House Falls

On US-41, just south of L'Anse, you turn west on Power Dam road, then cross the railroad tracks,then head-straight on a dirt road, where on the right you can see the falls of 5 to 20 foot drop. In plain English; I would not recommend "dicking" around here. There are lots of dangers seen and unseen, not to mention you never know when you can expect a surge of water from the dam above it to open.

Quiver Falls

4 miles southwest of Loretto.

Rainbow Falls

12 miles north of Bessemer on a improved trail and a 45 minute walk where then a 20+ foot vertical drop can be viewed.

Reamy Falls

5 miles northwest of Marquette.

Rocky Forty Falls

3 1/2 miles Northwest of Bessemer.

Rudolph Olson Memorial Falls

1 1/2 miles northeast of Munising near the intersection of H-58 & Washington Street you will find a unimproved trail with an expected 10 minute walk to view the 5 to 20 foot vertical drop.

Sable Falls

1 1/2 miles west of Grand Marais on H-58 you will find a improved trail and a 5 to 15 minute walk to view the 20+ foot vertical waterfall drop.

Sandstone Falls

12 miles north of Bessemer

Saxon Falls

11 miles Northwest of Ironwood.

Scott Falls

On the south side of M-28 and east side of Lake Superior's Au Train Bay.

Shining Cloud Falls

9 miles west of White Pine off of a improved trail and a 45+ minute hike you will discover a 20+ vertical drop.

Silver Falls

6 miles northeast of L'Anse on Skanee Road.

Silver River Falls

3 miles east of Eagle Harbor.

Siskiwit Falls

Can be viewed after purchasing an expensive on-way ticket to Isle Royale, the little 5 foot vertical drop can be viewed. Isle Royale does provide many outdoor attractions to be cherished, but again the ferry ticket is expensive and you should plan ahead as to make the most of your day and outing on the Isle.

11 miles from L'Anse on Skanee Road.

Sparrow Rapids

1 1/2 miles northwest of Kenton

9 miles north of Sidnaw a improved trail and 30-45 minute walking time you will discover a 20+ foot vertical drop.

3 1/2 miles southwest of Loretto.

14 1/2 miles north of Ironwood.

14 miles west of Paradise on M-12 the Tahquamenon falls can be seen off of the many improved trails after a 10 to 15 minutes to view the spectacular 20+ foot vertical drop. There are restrooms and dining at the Camp 33 restaurant and brewery. This is a Upper Peninsula of Michigan must-see!
