A Convincing Ginny Weasley Halloween Costume

The Ultimate Costume for Hardcore Harry Potter Fans

Halloween is all about costumes and making them look great. If you're aiming to be Ginny Weasley from Harry Potter for Halloween, you'll want to do it impressively. Fortunately, this guide is all you need to be confident that your Ginny Weasley costume is the best.

Hair:
If you're hardcore, the best thing would be to dye your hair that orange-red color. You can go to a salon or buy the home kind. Any of the L'Oreal hair dyes are great. If your hair is dark, you'll probably have to bleach it first to get the correct color. If you don't want to dye your hair or if your hair is shorter than shoulder length and you don't have time to grow it out, you can get a wig. Don't go to the costume stores to get one because they usually look fake. Go to an actual salon or place that sells wigs/extensions/etc and pick one up. It'll probably run you anywhere from 60 to 100 dollars, depending on quality, but it'll be worth it.

Face/Make-up:
It's best to use a little bit of dye on your eyebrows so they match your hair. Ginny Weasley is a natural readhead and thus has red eyebrows as well. You can use light brown eyeliner sharpened to a point to carefully draw on freckles if you don't have any. I'd go light in the make-up. Maybe some gloss, a tiny bit of blush, and some brown eyeliner. Use whatever make-up you'd like, as long as you keep it natural.

The Costume:
The great thing about being Ginny Weasley for Halloween is that the costume consists of things that most people can find at home or buy inexpensively. There's no need to buy an actual costume. A black knee length skirt and white collared blouse work extremely well for the foundation of the costume. You can add some black knee socks and some kind of black ballet flats for a hint of cute and flirty. If you want to be convincing, buy the official Gryffindor tie, sweater, scarf (if you live someplace colder), and patch. You can buy a robe also, but the official robe tends to be more expensive, so it's best to get a generic black one at a costume shop and add the Gryffindor patch to it. The patch is only five dollars. Of course, if you want the official robe and can afford it, by all means get it. Whimsic Alley is the go to store for any type of Harry Potter wear so I highly recommend getting your stuff there.

Accessories:
The most important accessory is going to be the wand. There are many different types. Whimsic Alley sells the official Ginny Weasley wand, complete with certificate of authenticity. Otherwise, most costume stores have some kind of wand and only hardcore fanatics will be able to tell that you aren't sporting the correct one. Other accessories that you might like to have include a Pigmy Puff, Tom Riddle's Diary, and some of Fred and George's famous candy.
