A Cool Summer Treat

Lori Crawford
Now that we're settling into those lazy summer days, the only thing that can make them better is to add a fast, frozen treat to the mix. Frozen Fruit Smoothies will definitely fit the bill. They are not only easy to make, but they're portable and delicious. All you'll need to indulge in this summer delight is:

Frozen Fruit
Juice
Blender
Whipped Cream (optional)
Lidded cups

Start by pouring the juice in the blender. Add the frozen fruit until they fill the juice, but don't overwhelm it. Blend until all the fruit chunks are gone..

Within moments you'll have a healthy, delicious treat the whole family will love. For those you who'd like to add a little sweetness, the whipped cream is for you. It blends very nicely into the smoothie and is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth without being overwhelming.

To make these treats perfect for the kids who always seem to be on the go, pour the smoothies into disposable cups with lids and pop them in the freezer. Let them sit overnight and they'll become the perfect alternative to store bought popsicles.

If you prefer, feel free to substitute fresh fruit for the frozen fruit. You may not get the same consistency at first, but the smoothie will still turn into all kinds of yummy goodness. Add ice to your recipe only if you need to dilute the flavor.

This recipe works fantastically if you make a couple blenders at a time. Put them all in the freezer and you'll have delicious treats at your fingertips to keep you and your family cool in the late summer heat.
