A Cycling Vacation

What is your idea of a holiday? Most people will answer by saying that they just want to relax and have a good time. So that implies laying out on sun-kissed beaches, eating, shopping and drinking like there is no tomorrow. If you are the unconventional sort of person who likes to try out new ideas, a Cycling holiday will be the best option for you. Many people complain of gaining weight after they are back from a holiday.

A cycling holiday will not do this to you, as cycling in itself is a very good exercise. This is one of the main reasons why people like a cycling holiday. This way they can gorge on different foods of their choice keeping their weight in check at the same time.

The second advantage of a cycling holiday is that you are able to explore the holiday spot to the full extent. Whenever you visit a foreign place, you usually have to depend upon the public transport or hire a private cab, which can be inconvenient and expensive too. Moreover, you can have lots of time on your hand with a cycling holiday.

A bike is easy to maintain, and does not need gas to run too! You can build friends for life while on a cycling holiday. Normally, we find that each one is busy engrossed in interacting and enjoying with their group of friends or relatives, while on a foreign tour. Since cycling is a group activity, you will come across many people who have similar interests as yours. It is a great experience to share thoughts with people from different countries. You must have experienced boredom sometimes on a holiday.

Why does it happen? This is because you visit the same places of interest where you have already been before. In a cycling holiday, novelty is a great factor to keep you going. You will be exposed to different beautiful scenic locations every single day. This makes you eager and enthusiastic for the next day. Cycling holidays are great for the pocket too.

Usually, the cost of a holiday incorporates the accommodation and travel expenses, so there is no need to spend anything other than that. As you are cycling, you keep fit and are in high spirits. Thus, you don't have to waste money for entertaining yourself. A day at a cycling holiday will exhaust you enough that you sleep like a baby. Where to go? Some favorite cycling vacation destinations are France, Spain and Italy. You can consult your travel company for further information on what clothes are suitable and what else you will need to carry.

Some tips for a cycling holiday:

•It is not always possible to take your bike with you. But don't lose heart; there are many travel companies which run guided cycling tours. You can hire a bike of your choice from such a tour operator.

•Some adventurous people might want to explore their country side on their own. You can always do that, but take care that you have a clear road map with you. Understand the map before you go cycling. Be prepared for eventualities. Still, it is better and safe to go on a cycling holiday with your friends or family for obvious reasons. You will not feel alone and can enjoy the holiday better.

•People who are suffering from joint pain or do not know cycling should not venture out and risk themselves. Always consult your physician before booking a cycling holiday. It may stress your knees if you are not used to it.

Unwind and relax yourself by taking a cycling holiday in the lap of nature! I bet you will have fond memories of the trip..
