Black Rose
I need a blackened rose to fit my mood,
A melancholy azure diamond ring,
My eyes are dripping, sad, and crimson hued,
To freeze the time, my wish to stop aging.
Confused by life and death, I chase the wind,
Frustrated with mistrust of them, of me,
A universe so full of evil sin,
So somber, full of cinders, hard to see.
Discouraging and gloomy clouds embrace,
The lightning flashes without ceasing once,
A murky swan not white, not full of grace,
To seek, to find, to need a temperance.
Despondently exposing heart and soul,
I feel enclosed inside a gloomy hole.

Great Sonnet!
Beautiful!
Powerful and well penned. Indeed, a dark beauty! ;-)
It's dark, but I love it.
Beautifully done. As a senior citizen, I can identify with the thoughts. Getting old is not fun!
Now that really is a dark sonnet. What's more, the meter is almost perfect. Brava!
Really very good, I thoroughly enjoyed it. (and thank you :)
It is dark, but so in the moment. Excellent work.
