A Daughters Love

David Lanier
A daughters love makes the heart grow fonder,
and now i no longer ponder,
what happiness means.
She brings love and light into my life,
this i can't deny,
and from the grace of God above,
fills my heart with undying love.
I shall never stop loving her,
morning noon and night.
Especially when the dawn is young,
and her youthful smile
chases away the night.
She visits me with youthful laughter,
with big eyes so innocent and true.
When she says "daddy i love you,"
makes all my wishes come true.
I will always love her,
even in the twilight of my life,
when the wintery shadows
darken the ground,
and the sunset of time
enchants the earth.
I shall always love her,
even as the last pale moon
is fading away,
and the tiny stars
look like angels,
as i am waiting for God
to take me away.

Parenthood: Not to create, define, or point the way to a path for our children. But, to teach them how to clear the obstacles from the path that their souls are inclined to follow. The best thing we do for our children, is to have faith in them, even when it's hard.
    Happy fatherhood Dave. Nice poem.

The bond between a father and daughter is so special. You've done a great job of capturing that in words.
