A Daughter's Thoughts

Sonja Hernandez
As far back as my memories can recall
I remember you there, standing so tall
Providing guidance, love and strength
The years passed so quickly, I wish I hadn't blinked.

The moments we've shared are etched
The pictures and photos that you sketched
Everything comes flooding through
Our road trips to Vegas, just me and you.

I pray you knew, while here on earth
Of my unwavering love and respect
To the woman who gave birth
For everything you represented in my life
Everything I did for you, I'd do again and not think twice.

It saddens me to think I went so far away
Not being able to see you each and every day.

I am left with such an emptiness
Now that you are gone
I can't seem to find the place now
In this world where I belong.

This makes my heart weep and sing at the same time. Beautiful words, my dear sister.
