A Daughter's Tribute to Her Father

Happy Father's Day Daddy

Lee Hansen
If you want to see me get emotional, just ask me about my father. I proudly wear the badge of "Daddy's girl". At 90 years old he is still alive and in decent shape for his age. At his recent doctor's appointment he was told that he'll probably live to be 100. Dad chuckled at that. He knows that's in the Lord's hands.

His children laughingly tell him he might outlive us all. When I look back on my life with my father I have such fond and pleasant memories. Won't you take a stroll down memory lane with me?

Dad-In-Chief

In our household Dad was the loving husband and father. He led by setting a good example. He wasn't a man of just talk. He backed it up with action.

Dad-Hard Worker

Working three jobs for his large family was something he did to provide for us. He loved us and always made sure food was on the table. His work ethic has been instilled in all his children. He always told us to work with all our dignity and might no matter what the job was.

Dad-the Driver

I have never liked to drive. I do so because it is a necessity. I'll never forget when he and I took some younger relatives to Disney in Florida. I planned the itinerary, made reservations, etc. But when it came time to drive, I handed the keys over to him. And when he and Mom came to visit me I gave him the keys while he chauffeured us around. If that isn't love!!!

Dad-the Man of Wisdom

At this point in life, Dad has had many experiences. He willingly shares lessons that life has taught him. He doesn't want us to make the same mistakes.

Dad-The Encourager and Listening Ear

There's never a time when he doesn't have a word of encouragement to give us and a listening ear to hear.

Conclusion

I could go on and write a book about my father. To me, it would be a best seller. I am the person I am today because of his love for me. Of course he did it with the loving assistance of my mother.

Happy Father's Day, Daddy. I love you with all my heart.

If you are blessed to still have a father, why not take a moment to let him know how much you love him? And if your father has passed on, take a moment to reminisce on the memories you were privileged to share.

Happy Father's Day to all fathers out there. Yours is such an important and vital role.
