A Day to Remember

Julie Wimmer
Each year in May,
we carve out a day,
to remember those who fought;
as we close our eyes to pray.

Our freedom will stay,
so our memories won't stray
from the men and women who protected us
each and every day.

Every Memorial day,
we honor those from our pasts' array,
as well as those who still protect in the present;
which is our very humble and thankful way.

Honor thy country, we the people say,
and remember those who have had to pay,
a price to keep us safe and free and honest,
and if you can, do so every Memorial Day.

    Great tribute. In Australia and New Zealand we have Anzac Day on 25 April each year - the equivalent of your Memorial Day. We cannot take these tribute days for granted - ever.
