A Day at New Smyrna Beach Farmer's Market
Fresh Local Produce, Baked Goods, Plants, Pet Treats and Art
It's best to arrive at the New Smyrna Beach Farmer's Market early in the day in order to obtain the best selection of produce and baked goods. However, late arrival can often yield discounted prices as merchants would rather sell for less than pack up leftover product.
Swiss baker, Armand Bryl, serves a bountiful selection of fresh, organic baked goods via his bright yellow vendor truck. Bryl bakes everything on site and the aromas of freshly baked bread and Bavarian pretzels permeate the salt air.
Selections from the Swiss Baker include a variety of breads and bagels, pretzels, croissants, sticky buns, tarts, apple strudels, and pies. Visitors quickly deplete the Swiss Baker's supply, so if you want the good stuff, arrive early. Mr. Bryl is happy to accommodate special requests and will hold baked goods orders if you phone ahead. The Swiss Baker can be reached at 561.914.3002.
Next to the Swiss Baker is Mia Love Eco Treats, owned by Serena Samar. Here you will find vegetarian pet treats for canines and felines. Indulge Fido in homemade treats such as peanut butter ravioli, carrot cake bones with white chocolate frosting, fruit 'n cheez plate rings and Gloriebee gluten-free treats or shower your kitty with cheesy kitty or Cody cat tuna treats.
Mia Love Eco Treats are packaged in enviro-friendly packaging. A portion of sale proceeds is donated to transporting dogs from high-kill shelters to foster homes. Learn more about Mia Love's product line at www.MiaLoveEcoTreats.com.
Another must-visit booth for baked goods is Grammy K's. This local co-op bakery is owned by Kathleen Blackman, who has become a hometown icon for her infamous Monster cookies. These gluten-free, wheat-free sensations are packed with scrumptious ingredients including peanut butter, chocolate chips, oatmeal and raisin.
Grammy K's offers a fabulous selection of sweet treats including buttery pound cakes, Oreo cookie cheesecake, New York style cheesecake, gourmet brownies and Italian cookies. If you don't find what you're looking for at the Grammy K booth, their physical store is located at 215 Canal Street and is within walking distance of the farmer's market. Online orders can be placed at www.GrammyK.com.
If you're looking for gorgeous flowering plants, hardy organic vegetable plants and bountiful herbs, stop by the Eco Outdoors booth. Not only will you find plants to spruce up your landscape or beef up your vegetable and herb gardens, you'll also find answers to gardening questions.
The staff at Eco Outdoors will help you determine which types of plants will thrive in your environment and provide instructions for care. Eco Outdoors takes up a large section of the New Smyrna Beach Farmer's Market to provide customers with unique and hard-to-find organic plants at affordable prices.
Visitors of New Smyrna Beach Farmer's Market will delight at the unique beach art offered at the Nature's Art booth. Local artist, Jackie Hiles, transforms ordinary palm frowns into exquisite works of art. You'll find a wide assortment of mahi-mahi, sailfish, marlin, and fantasy fish painted in bright, tropical colors with painstaking details.
In addition to creating exquisite nature art, Jackie Hiles has earned a reputation as being one of the best local pet artists. She has an uncanny ability of capturing pet personalities and forever immortalizes them on canvas. Jackie's art portfolio and contact information is available at www.ArtByJackie1.vpweb.com.
The New Smyrna Beach Farmer's Market is stocked with a wide variety of produce including pesticide-free and organics. Although selections vary each week, visitors will find a variety of lettuce, cabbage, onions, carrots, potatoes, bell peppers, Chile peppers, bananas, pineapples, mangoes, kiwi fruit, apples, oranges, lemons and limes.
Arts and craft lovers will delight in the unique wares offered throughout the farmer's market. Visitors can find one-of-a-kind gifts to decorate their home or landscape. Artisans include local painters, wood crafters, potters, clay artists and jewelers making the NSB Farmer's Market a great place to buy special occasion and holiday gifts.
When visiting the New Smyrna Beach Farmer's Market be certain to bring cash, as most vendors do not have the ability to accept credit cards. It is also a good idea to bring fabric totes to carry all your treasures home.
