In A Deadly Mission, a religious cult operating under the name of the Boston Christian Common Fellowship is luring unsuspecting college students into its' inner circle under the guise of their Christian charitable work for the homeless, needy, and underprivileged. But when a former student of Olympia's, turns up dead and another is being actively recruited right under her nose, it is apparent that Olympia must do whatever it takes to save her from the awful fate that awaits her. With the help of her close friend, Father Jim Sawicki, and her new romantic love interest, Englishman Frederick Watkins, it's a race against the clock to save the lonely, homesick, and emotionally vulnerable Bethany Ruth McAllister from the Fellowship before she becomes a member of their inner circle for good!
Campbell's characters are truly engaging and, as a result, pull you into the story as much as the engrossing plot itself. Campbell's choice of names for her main character, Olympia Brown, comes from the original Olympia Brown, who was the first woman ordained to Universalist ministry in 1863. The existence of the mischievous ghost and former inhabitant, Leanna Faith Winslow, in her newly purchased, historical farmhouse is a truly unique sub-plot as we glean bits and pieces of Ms. Winslow's former life from her long, hidden diary dating back to 1859!
A Deadly Mission is published by Mainly Murder Press and was released in mid-July, 2010. You can purchase it at Mainly Murder Press, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Books-A-Million and at local bookstores across the country. Don't miss the next Olympia Brown mystery slated to be released in June, 2011, entitled An Unspeakable Mission where Olympia and her unusual cast of characters, including Father Jim, Frederick, and of course her nosy, house-ghost Ms. Winslow will all be returning for another sleuthing adventure.
Judith Campbell divides her time between the island of Martha's Vineyard and Plymouth, Massachusetts with her husband and Englishman, Chris Stokes.
