It seems that the rumor of a deadly virus, transmitted via cell phones, spread like wildfire. It had claimed that 20 people had succumbed to the virus so far. As you can imagine, Warid's subscribers panicked and inundated the customer service center.
What could be a humorous twist to the event were the solemn words spoken in Karachi mosques, warning the faithful worshipers that, "people were being killed by a mobile virus and that they should be aware of God's wrath". In retrospect, it's not funny because it illustrates the ignorance of Islam and how the Imam's brainwash their brethren. But, I digress. Another topic, another time.
It's also amusing that the virtual virus was an instrument of "God's wrath". The Muslims certainly don't have a monopoly on this perspective, as it is often voiced by preachers in this country.
Maybe I could start a rumor here that ringtones send a subliminal signal that turns your mushy brain into more mush. At least it would cut down on those annoying sound clips in public.
By the way, if you send emails using Microsoft Outlook, Bill Gates will pay you ten cents for each one! Really! (disclaimer: no, he will not)
