This coffee is bitter and I'm tired.
Late night words and the struggle
for a different ending
have left my sleep in winks,
and I'd rather still be slipping
back into dreams-
Where you can wrap your arms around me.
Where I never had to leave.
Where our fingers entwined
is the only way it can ever be.
Sometimes waking up can be
just as lonely as falling asleep.
Late night words and the struggle
for a different ending
have left my sleep in winks,
and I'd rather still be slipping
back into dreams-
Where you can wrap your arms around me.
Where I never had to leave.
Where our fingers entwined
is the only way it can ever be.
Sometimes waking up can be
just as lonely as falling asleep.
And there are times when my heart skips a beat-
because I know exactly what to say
to make you smile.
And there are times when my breath gets caught up-
because you forget, and understand
that's all I ever wanted.
In a world where rewind isn't possible-
because I know there's no taking it back-
I hope you believe-
It was never just a dream.
And we're the writers of our own story.
