A Different Kind of Easter

Day 45 - a Year with God

Marilyn Quinn
Easter this year has been a different kind of Easter. There was a span of time growing up that my family members and myself were two Sunday a year church goers. You know, that whole Christmas and Easter phenomenon. And in between we rarely, if ever, spoke of religion or faith or living a Christian lifestyle.

This year has been different for me. I have been thinking daily about scripture and God and what he has in his master plan for me. Every day I am studying how to apply his words to my life to make it better and more of what he intended for it to be.

There was no day of religion and then I am back to my rut. I am focusing on the word daily. So there is no 7 month reprieve from my religious plan. Let this in no way imply that other 2 Sunday a year church goers are doing it wrong. We do what we can, when we can. We are all at different places with different needs.

At the moment, I need some intensive help and study. I need God there everyday to put his hand over my mouth, put his arms around me and be my Father. I sometimes wonder how I can move forward and backward at the same time?

I can take comfort in knowing though, that however imperfect I am, however long it takes me to "get it right" and start walking in love more regularly; today is about the love and sacrifice that was made for me. For you. Today is what reinforces our faith and renews our belief.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

This is the first scripture I ever learned and it's the one I refer back to now. They taught me the most important thing first. God loves us. He loves every one of us and his sacrifice makes it possible for us to be what we are and to strive to be better than what we are; but he loves us even in our imperfection.
