Our first reunion since Dad died
Saddened
Our hearts
Saddened
Our hearts
Mom sat at the end of the table
Lost
And alone
Dad's chair beside her sat
Empty
With thundering quiet
The rest of us struggled to
Survive
Haunted by memories
Going through the motions with
Hollow
Broken hearts
But we continued on
Nurtured
By family
This reunion was necessary for
Love
Renews our spirit

Wow. Again, wow. So beautiful. And sad, too.
Very poignant. It's always hard to lose those we love, and getting used to life without their presence.
Very nice job as always.
PS: I wish the ratings system was fixed so I could give your pieces the five stars that they deserve. When will this thing be fixed? I wish they would get rid of it altogether!
Oh, goodness, I have lived through THIS! You describe what I went through so acurately! This piece is going to connect with a lot of people, Phylis. Well done! PS: I am so very sorry for your loss. We spoke about it before and we both know it still hurts, no matter how long ago the loss occured.
thundering quiet. brilliant poem
I can totally understand here...Excellent job here !!!
I'm sorry for your lost. It took me a long time to adjust to not having my daddy around. Years later I still had the thought "I'll ask Daddy" before I remembered I couldn't.
