A Dining Guide for Laurelville, Ohio

Dining in Laurelville Ohio can be a challenge as there are not many restaurants to choose from in this small village. Laurelville is nestled deep within the Hocking Hills, in between Hocking and Ross counties. This sleepy little village is rarely visited by tourists as there simply isn't a lot of activities to lure them into Laurelville. If you do find yourself heading into Laurelville, Ohio with the intentions of grabbing a bite to eat, this dining guide will help you decide where to stop, and where to pass by.

If you are in the mood for pizza or sandwiches, you will want to check out the south Perry carry out, located on state Route 180 just before you enter the sleepy village of Laurelville. The South Perry carry out features delicious foods at affordable prices. This is a simple store featuring a small dining room, a pizzeria and deli. You can buy an assortment of goods from beer to soda, chips and assorted snack foods and candies, as well as a limited selection of groceries, cigarettes and camping supplies. The food is the star of the South Perry carry out, as people in the area drive for twenty or more miles just to get a pizza from south Perry. I loved the Texas Tenderloin as well as the Breakfast pizza. The subs and bread sticks are also great! In my opinion, this is the best dining option Laurelville has to offer residents and visitors alike.

Next up is the Dairy Barn, where again you can find pizzas and sandwiches, as well as ice cream cones and sundaes. This is a simple and small walk up restaurant, that locals flock to on Friday nights to catch up and visit with neighbors and enjoy a tasty dessert, or slice of pizza. There is nothing remarkable about this Dairy Barn, but it is charming, affordable and among the finest eateries in Laurelville.

Across the street you will find Laurelvilles small diner, The Village Inn, this is a small town hot spot, as it is among the limited restaurants in Laurelville. I ate at The Village Inn once, and I probably won't return if I can help it. The food was not bad, the prices are affordable, but it just wasn't my type of restaurant. I bought a whole strawberry rhubarb pie, and it was so terrible I could not give it away, and my dog would not eat it either, it was really terrible and tasted like onions...

I recommend the south Perry carry out for your dining needs in the sleepy village of Laurelville. It is simply the best the area has to offer.

I have a little experience with a lot of things, but not a lot of experience with little things. I'm a thirty-one year old aspiring aspirer from a small town in southeastern Ohio.  View profile

The Texas tenderloin at the Old Town Diner (at Maple Ave. and Pike St.) is PHENOMENAL!!! A piece of flattened pork tenderloin that's as big as a dinner plate, battered and fried, then folded over and placed on a bun with lettuce, tomato, pickles and onions!

I asked why it was called a "Texas" tenderloin, tenderloin sandwiches are a midwestern thing, after all, and the waitress told me that it was because the meat is pounded until it's as big as Texas.

The All-you-can-eat perch on Fridays is good, too!

The pizza at South Perry Carryout is delightful! We had it while we were visiting Hocking Hills on Saturday night. It was so good, we went back Sunday afternoon for lunch before we headed back home. Don't miss it!
