The Hocking Hills region of Ohio is an area renowned for its beauty. There are many recreational activities to the delight of both the young and old. From hiking the many miles of forested trails, to canoeing down the Hocking River, to visiting the regions unique shops and antique malls. Perhaps one of the most common activities for both the tourists and the locals is the patronage of the regions restaurants.

Logan, the county seat is the center of many culturally influenced menus. Sure, one can find the staples of fast food, such as, KFC, McDonald's and Domino's Pizza to name a few, but to truly experience the flavor of the hills, consider these local favorites.

The Olde Dutch restaurant on State Route 664, boasts a traditional Amish- influenced dining experience. Broasted Chicken, roast pork with sauerkraut and country cured hams make this restaurant and banquet haus a favorite stop. You will also love the buffet and delicious desserts available at The Olde Dutch restaurant.

Bush's restaurant on Front street in Logan Ohio offers visitors that home town family feeling. With its hand written daily specials adorning the walls, Bush's restaurant's charm is accented by it's many selections of fresh homemade pies.

The Brass Ring and Lounge , located off state Route 328 caters not only to the hungry visitor, but is also home of Hocking County's finest golf course. The specialties of The Brass Ring include pan seared tilapia, mouth watering fillet mignon, scallop and crab linguini, and the "Brass Ring": a half pound grilled Black Angus Burger.

If it is a lighter meal, such as lunch that is desired consider Lori's Place, where everything is home made and delicious, or perhaps you will visit Etta's Lunch Box Cafe. Here one can enjoy a bit of road side Americana. Etta's(as its namesake implies,) is home to over 650 lunch boxes spanning over one hundred years. Moreover, Etta's Lunch Box Cafe, has been voted the number 1 reason to do lunch in Ohio by OH magazine for many years in a row. You will love the pizza, sandwiches, soups and salads available at Etta's Lunch Box Cafe!

Finally it is worth noting that the Hocking Hills locals consider Pizza Crossing, located on Mulberry Street in downtown Logan, to be the regions finest pizzeria. The charming restaurant and pub is the center of many gatherings including Logan's football team on victorious Friday nights.

If you find yourself in southeastern Ohio, do your groaning stomach a favor by sampling the regions local cuisine.
