A Disappearance - A Poem

Jersey
You left me, abandoned me
At least I thought you had
Out of spite
Or out of indifference
Perhaps even annoyance

My shield vanished
My ever constant conscience
Asleep or on holiday
My constant friend
Distant

After you left,
the storms raged
Battered and Shattered me
And bowed my frame
The charmers sneaked in
Spinning webs of deceit
With spidery fingers
Snagged my certainty
The tormentors and intimidates
Stripped away all that I had
Shredded my dignity
Loneliness became my neighbor
Constantly leaving reminders and tokens
That there was no one.

But...
You did leave me a reminder
A minute whisper
A reminder
That all things are possible.

Now...
I realize that storms are just rain, noise, and wind.
Nothing that a shelter or umbrella can't handle.
The charmers no longer turn my head.
I moved away from loneliness without so much of a goodbye.

I'm stronger now.
I can handle anything...
Well almost.
But that was your plan.
Wasn't it?
