"How long is the drive?"
"Will it be dark when we get there?"
"Does our hotel have a pool?"
And so it was. The beginning of an extremely LONG trip. My children came up with questions for the very questions they asked. I tried to be patient with them, but my head was pounding, my blood pressure was soaring, and my patience......was VERY thin. And finally, we arrived at the resort. My eyes filled with tears, happy to finally be getting out of the car and away from the questions.
But they didn't stop.
"Does this hotel have room service?
"Is the pool heated?"
"Does the t.v. have HBO?"
This was still the FIRST DAY of our vacation. That thought kept echoing in my mind. Our FIRST DAY, and already....I just wanted to get away from them! Well, not really them, but the questions.
During the time we spent at Disneyworld, I became convinced that a steady stream of questioning could be used as a non-physical torture technique. My children could be flown in as specialists, sent to break down the stubborn criminals that wont speak. I can just imagine the information they could get from spies, terrorists, and bad people around the world, just by sending my children into the room with them for fifteen minutes.
We spent six full days at the various Disney parks in Orlando, Florida. And while the pictures we took depict smiling faces and good times, my mind will always remember the barrage of questioning I endured to make it all happen.

Post a CommentA memorable trip. It took us about 13/14 hours to drive down to Orlando. ( with the added annoyance of begging the dog to go pee pee).
Congradulations. I hope you have a wonderful time on your vacation. Hang on to the children mine almost flew out the bottom of one ride she turned to jelly.
One word -- BENADRYL LOL great fun read.
Thank God....my children are grown and THEY can take THEIR kids on road trips...not me!
Disney is fun.
I can't wait to take my kids to Disneyworld. But I know exactly what you mean--the worst question on any road trip is "Are we there yet?" The kids find ways around that question if they're clever: "Show me where we are on the map!" "How many miles until the next stop?" "How much longer until we get to our hotel?" "Why'd Daddy yell at that other driver?"
Oh, the trials of traveling with children!
fun read enjoyed this very much!!!
And you know when they get old enough to be embarrassed to be seen talking to you, you'll miss those constant questions...sigh...
What we go through for our children...and we still end up loving them! :)
