A Door Amidst the Rocks

April Higney
"Come with me, please, you must hurry, take my hand."
Following through a forest, the songbird's tune.
"There is something I must show you, maybe some things you've already seen"
A door amidst the rocks, covered in dried leaves,
she pulled them open,
drawn inside a darkened cave.
"Its okay, to fear, I am here beside you, to grant courage"
The smell of death
"Its okay, one must travel through this, bear witness to, to understand a precious life,
I am here to guide you."
A room, witnesses suffrage, the hunger starved, pain.
"Its okay, one must know of this sadness, to understand compassion,
I am here with you, my hand embraces you."
A tear falls,
the door opens,
to bright soft lights,
of the sun,
of the moon,
of the stars,
combined into one sky,
the white of clouds,
and the sounds of laughter,
happiness,
an abundance in all of nature's beauties.
The door behind closes.
She disappears into the cascade of sunlight,
and whispered, "The tears are not unheard. Love, its all within you"
