Doing voice over audio all about understands what the producer is trying to get across to the audience by placing each character in the film. If you understand what is intended for the role then you can provide audio that the producer will enjoy and you will land the job. You can best do this by taking a voice over class at your local community college. If you do not attend college then you should go into the college and ask about what voice over classes they offer. Register for anything they have and get to know the professor because if he has worked in the industry then he will have connections that you can use to get a job.
Before you do this you need to build up a demo tape so that you can hand it out to prospective employers. You can look for other students producing films and volunteer to do free voice over work. This will give you material to put on a tape, which you will provide to your professor so that he can try to find you some work.
Ask your professor if your school will allow for you to post your tape online, if he says yes then you should take advantage of this because make producers will hire you after first listening to your tape online. Ask your professor to get you any work possible and continue to build your demo even if you are doing the work for free.
When you have a finished demo you can post it on production websites like voices.com and this will allow producers that are interested in hiring you to contact you. Once you land a job make sure you do a good job and get a recommendation and your work will become more profitable.
