Remembering the old Rubik's Cube when I was a kid, it seemed like everyone had one. There were different sized ones, from large to small. A friend of mine even had a Rubik's Cube keychain. Other fads like the Wacky Wall Walker came and went, but the Rubik's Cube lasted all these years. I remember people spending hours trying to figure out how to solve the thing. It drove so many mad, trying to crack its code that no one ever forgot it.
Now, a new cube is here. Will it be the same, long lasting craze as the old Rubik's Cube of the Seventies and Eighties? Time will tell. It's good that a new generation gets to be perplexed like we once were, by this game, but in a more updated version for the tastes of today's game savvy kids and adults. With a ton of computer games already in the market, this new Cube will have to be really attention and mind grabbing to get and keep the interest of discriminating gamers.
The new Rubik's Revolution retails for around $17 and can be found at major retail chains in the United States like Toys R Us, Walmart and Target. If you want to relive your childhood and show your children the newer version of what you used to play with way back when, then give it a try. The manufacturers claim that the games on it are really addictive. So, get your hands and eyes ready for a good workout. With the holidays coming, this would make a great Christmas stocking stuffer or present under the tree. Maybe some of our other old fads will follow suit with electronic versions, like Pet Rocks, Hula Hoops and Mood Rings. Whatever happens, its fun for us adults to see at least one old fad get dusted off and remade for today's consumers. Who knows, it may just become the next big hit of tomorrow. After all, the marketing powers that be brought lava lamps back into style, so anything is possible.
