In the middle of the sidewalk, among many students, retirees, and general vendors, I can be found.
Sometimes wearing the brightest shirt, or shorts that are way up high above the knee, I stand anonymous.
Without rhyme or reason, nearly invisible to all who surround me, my presence evokes no stare.
If I cried out loud, no one would hear, if I fell flat on my face, no one would care.
Nothing. I'm dead to the world.

Most folks are on their cell phones talking to someone very important.
The young gals are exclaiming 'Oh my God' over and over again in loud shrill voices.
The cars on the street beep and bustle.
No one in this town can parallel park.
Four or five Middle Eastern women walk by covered in cloths and shrouds.
No one looks at me, I'm just a face in the crowd.

Post a Commentthis is great! stand out!
Thought-provoking and intense.
I like the visual stimulation in the piece- I can just see you in a crowd, simply ceasing to be to all th bustle around you- that's my favorite way to be in a crowd of people, but of course, my thoughts are the oppposite- I assume everyone is staring at me and making fun of me for no reason! A huge spot light, right on my kisser, in a crowd of strangers laughing their asses off at me for no reason whatsoever. Ug.
Food for thought~
