I originally was scheduled to work the eighteenth but had been called in on one of my regular days off. So as luck would have it I was free to take the kids and make the long anticipated trip to the land of pumpkins. My grandkids range in age from 4 years to 3 months old. Now the four year old and the three year old were just beside themselves. Just could not wait to get going. Our Grandsons live in town but the three granddaughters live about an hour from us, so what we decided was to keep the grandsons overnight Friday and leave Saturday morning to pick up the three Granddaughters and head to Pumpkinville. That night Damion, our 3 year old, woke at about 3 A.M. came tip toeing over to me and whispered Bammy? We get Pappy and go in Pappys truck to pumpkinville now? I giggled and sent him back to bed explaining to him that we would leave in the morning. He said OK and trotted back to bed. About 5:30 A.M. Here he comes again, Bammy? We going yet? No hun, go back to bed, It won't be long now. Ok,, back he goes.

Pappy had to go in to work for a couple hours and so I got up about 7 and made coffee and slowly awakened. At 8 A.M. here comes Damion, Bammy, Bammy , Pappy sleeping? No, I explained he was at work but would be home soon. The excitement in the child's eyes was a treasure I will hold onto forever. After breakfast and getting them dressed, Pappy came home and we finally got on the road.

Pumpkinville is a 200 acre farm filled with fall entertainment, for all ages. Corn mazes, corn cannons,(thats right, cannons) Pony rides Craft shop, Pie shop,Cow train, and much more. Not to mention the Pumpkin yard! Pumpkins of all sizes are picked and lined up according to size or if you like you can go into the patch yourself and find the one you want. They are open 9 A.M. to 7 P.M. September 20th thru October 31, Rain or shine. Also included in this is a petting zoo and you can feed some of the animals on the farm. For us it was about a 2 hour trek, but worth every mile. This is the oldest original pumpkin farm in New York State. Located at 4844 Sugartown Road, Great Valley, New York. It is a beautiful and scenic drive.

Once all the grandkids were picked up we continued on. When we arrived Mackiya and Damion held hands and skipped along looking at everything, while Mom and Pappy and Bammy trailed behind. This was an adventure for me as well, as I had never been to such a thing, I was very impressed with everything. The layout was easy to follow and the rides and attractions were easy to access and ticket booths were well placed. Once the Pony rides and train rides were completed we had a nice late lunch and shopped for pumpkins using allocated wheel barrels. Then we headed for home. I don't think we were on the road five minutes and all the kids were sleeping. I would like to think that this will be a memory that they will share one day with their children.

I know that we will return again next fall but it could never be as sweet as the first visit. And I couldn't think of a better birthday gift than spending it the way I did with my family!

If you get the chance to go there, by all means go and enjoy the day!
