The wait is over and opening day at Citizens Bank Park is upon us. The excitement and anticipation of Philadelphia baseball fans is reaching feverish levels, as Citizens Bank Park and the Philadelphia Phillies prepare for opening day on April 1, 2011. Read on for a comprehensive guide to opening day at Citizens Bank Park.

A Busy Off Season

The Philadelphia Phillies have certainly remained busy in the off season. There are several notable new faces on the team. One move that is creating a high energy buzz is the December 15, 2010 deal to bring Cliff Lee back to Philadelphia. The left handed pitcher is a fan favorite, and has agreed to the terms of a five year contract with the Philadephia Phillies. The Philadelphia Phillies certainly appear to have a solid ball club. It will be interesting to see where they will take us this year.

Weather

The weather in Philadelphia may throw a serious wrench in the Philadelphia Phillies' season opening game. News outlets are reporting that a Nor'easter may spoil Friday's game. There is potential for rain, ice and snow; in other words, not baseball weather. Let's hope that the weather forecasters are just playing one huge April fool's joke on us!

Parking

As always, plan to arrive at Citizens Bank Park early. Although Citizens Bank Park offers plenty of parking, the parking lots fill up quickly. Expect to pay around $15.00 for parking.

Tickets

If you don't have tickets for opening day by now, you might as well forget stopping by the ticket office. Tickets for Friday's season opener have been sold out for weeks. Your best bet for finding tickets to Friday's game include Stubhub.com, Craigslist, or eBay. Even on short notice, you may be able to find tickets to the big game.

To those going to the big game, I envy you! I will be sitting in a cubicle when the first pitch is thrown, listening intently on my radio.
