A Father's Day Poem to My Granddaughter's Dad

Jeanne Sparks-Carreker
She is really too young to know,
Way too young to understand,
What Father's Day means
And how it relates to such a busy, young man.

Being that she isn't yet interested
In much more than crawling and such,
You're let off the hook, or so to speak,
Since she doesn't yet celebrate much.

And when she grows older and wiser,
Just manufacture a better excuse.
I'm sure she will find being busy takes time-
There's plenty of reasons to use.

So when one day a sentiment is needed,
Like a Father's Day Poem or card,
Try to understand the pause of her little hand-
For finding time to talk to daddy has been hard.
