A Fearless (?) NFC Championship Prediction

Jeremy C
On Sunday, the Green Bay Packers will try to bring another banner to Titletown. On Sunday, the New York Giants will try to continue to add to their record nine-game road winning streak. Both want to end up in Glendale, Arizona for the Super Bowl and the shot at the NFL's world championship, but only one can. Who will it be?

Things looked bleak early on for the Packers when rookie running back Ryan Grant put the ball on the ground twice against the Seattle Seahawks. You had to wonder: Can the kid recover? 27 carries, 201 yards and three touchdowns later, the world had their answer. The Pack also had some guy at quarterback from Mississippi, been here a few times before, threw a funky shovel pass here, hit wideout Greg Jennings for two touchdowns there. It's spelled Favre, you say it Farve, just in case he comes up again on Sunday.

All the attention, wanted, unwanted, what have you, was on Dallas quarterback Tony Romo and what he did and who he was with on his off-week before the divisional playoff with the Giants. The media was more concerned with that than the Giants themselves. Apparently, so were the Cowboys. Eli Manning continues to come into his own in these playoffs, throwing four touchdowns and, most importantly, no interceptions in the two games this year, and the defense continues to rule the trenches, giving the opposition no time to get comfortable.

All this said, who's going to win on Sunday? Well, the Seahawks had a great defense, but Grant shredded it for all those yards. Odds are, that doesn't happen against the Giants, but he'll still go for around 100, which will give Favre all the balance he needs to find whoever he has to throw to, however he has to throw it, to win. Manning has been a great manager of late, but he'll need to dominate for the Giants to score, and he's not quite there yet. The defense will keep it close, but, in the end, the Frozen Tundra, the Cheeseheads, and the playoff savvy of Favre will spell the end for Big Blue.

Prediction: Packers 24, Giants 21
