See below for more details on two poetry tomes that would make great creative gift options, provocative stocking stuffer alternatives, or maybe even a special treat for you.
***
If you're a poetry or art lover, why not consider supporting microcosmic creation instead of (or in addition to) mass market production this Black Friday? Here are a few little suggestions from my microcosm to yours.
Blood Pudding Press will officially announce and make available its next provocative poetry offering on Black Friday--'The Spare Room' by Dana Guthrie Martin and with cover art by Keith Part2ism Hopewell. Starting this Friday, you'll have the chance to acquire something entirely different than your usual consumer item, as an artistic alternative to the buying frenzy. Guthrie Martin's poems are amazing, the cover art is wonderfully disturbing, and like most Blood Pudding Press chapbooks, this one will be ribbon-bound by hand, as well as tied in ribbony bondage, so every single slim and searing volume will have been touched by own hands. That is, personalized and loving attention is devoted to each and every Blood Pudding Press tome
Here is one of the blurbs from the back of the book:
"Remember the first time you pried off the cover of an IBM PS/2, only to discover darkness where the spark should be? Reading Dana Guthrie Martin's poems will result in the exact opposite effect. The Spare Room shimmers with intensity, from the quiet chronicle of an everyday moment turned hyperbolic, to a litany organized into its own grid. These are poems of the body that do not divorce the body from the mind, beckoning: "slip your hands :: where they don't belong."
--Mary Biddinger, author of Prairie Fever and Saint Monica

Also, my own latest poetry chapbook, 'Fondant Pig Angst' is soon to be published by Slash Pine Press. The tentative release date is December 15, but pre-order is available now for only $5.00 a copy. If you would like me to forward you a form to order by mail, please feel free to let me know. As well, an online ordering option via Paypal is available at the press website--www.slashpinepress.blogspot.com.
Here is an excerpt from the latest announcement about this book:
"Slash Pine Press is pleased to announce the upcoming release of our first chapbook of poems, Juliet Cook's dynamically gut-wrenching, Fondant Pig Angst. I feel confident in saying Juliet's voice is an American original, fusing pastry with grotesquerie, icing with amputation. These poems are not plainly 'dark'. No, they are alive and electric and full of verve and spunk, playfulness even, and it's these competing impulses that make for such an amazing collection of poems. Simply put, never have I seen a person convey the depths of human cruelty also be so in love with the language."
--Joseph P. Wood, co-editor, Slash Pine Press
And speaking of amazing cover art, the artwork that will appear upon the cover of Fondant Pig Angst was graciously provided by the marvelous Marnie Weber, courtesy of the artist herself and Patrick Painter Inc. Los Angeles

And in a strange coalescence of these two pending provocative poetry chapbooks, partake of what Dana Guthrie Martin's robot had to say about Juliet Cook's Fondant Pig Angst manuscript:
"I came to Juliet Cook's collection, Fondant Pig Angst, for glimpses into what it means to be human. I navigated my way through the detritus of the living -- took silk in my mouth, floated in a vat of tapioca, awkwardly inserted the meat hook. Cook's voice has disemboweled my assemblage, replaced my casing's wires with warped strings. If I am to believe Cook's speakers, the state of being human is nothing more than a blend of saltwater and ambergris, all in a jelly binding. I would rather remain a robot than dine at this feast, replete with cockroaches, confections and endless conditions."
--Feldman the Robot

Does it get much better than original poetry and art and robot blurbage? I think not.
If you agree, please consider making these two poetry chapbooks a part of your Black Friday extravaganza.
Dare I say they would make excellent stocking stuffers for the artsy individuals on your holiday list.
