If your faucet is leaking, fix it. A leaky faucet when ignored can waste up to 75 gallons of water per day. A leaky toilet wastes more than a faucet does at an enormous amount of 200 gallons per day or more. Simply by fixing it, you can make a difference on these gallons and gallons of water.
Use fluorescent bulbs. Simply changing your standard bulbs into fluorescent ones reduces power usage by 75% or less. Not only that, fluorescent bulbs last 10 times longer than a standard one.
Turn any appliances or things that use energy off when not needed. It can save you a lot of energy costs when you know when or how it is being used. When looking for appliances to buy, choose products that have the Energy Star label on it. It consumes 30% less energy than those who don't have the label.
Wait for more clothes when doing the laundry. When you only wash few clothes at a time, you only end up spending more on energy, water, and money. Try to wait until you have full load of laundry. This technique goes with washing dishes as well. Try to run the dishwasher when it is full instead of half load.
Buy and support local food products and farmers. When we eat imported food products, it travels for hundreds and thousands of miles before it will end up in your table. All these travel can cause pollution from all the fossil fuels that are used in trucks. If you're going to eat local food products, you're not only helping your local market, but you're also helping save up in energy and help lessen the pollution.
Let the grass grow. The longer the length of the grass, the less water it needs. When you're going to cut it, let the grass clippings stay there. It will act as a natural fertilizer, which is better than chemical fertilizers.
Remember, a few step goes a long way. By doing these little changes, it's already for our environment!
