A Few Ideas for a 60th Birthday Card

Jamie Brown
A 60th birthday marks six full decades of life, experiences both good and bad, struggles and successes. This is a milestone birthday-usually defined as any birthday after age 30 that ends in a zero-that you should honor and recognize with a very special birthday card. A touching birthday card will make the recipient feel happy about all of his achievements and look forward to the next 60 years.

Take a Stroll Down Memory Lane

With 60 years of memories, there is plenty that you can write in the birthday card to help the recipient reminisce about her past. Break the card up into sections for each decade and talk about the special events (both world news and personal happenings) that occurred in each of those decades. If possible, make a custom card online and post your remembrances next to thumbnail photos from those years. This is one of those cards that the recipient will probably hold dear and look at frequently as a way to reminisce on the wonderful things that life has to offer.

Golden Years

Write a thoughtful message in the card to remind the birthday "girl" or "boy" to enjoy his golden years and "live it up." Encourage him to do something fun and different that year, or even that day, like skydiving or a trip to his favorite place. Insert a ticket to an exciting event or activity. Tell the recipient that you will go with him if he wants, if that will encourage him to stay active and have a good time.

Handwritten Card from a Child

Many 60 year old people are at the age where they want to sit back and enjoy their grandchildren. So enlist the young kids in the family (10 and under) to create a hand-drawn and written birthday card for their grandmother or father on card stock or construction paper. Be sure to have everyone in the family sign the card and if possible take a family picture and paste it on the back. Because this card has a personal touch from his grandchildren and the family as a whole, the recipient is more likely to appreciate and cherish it.
