Pro...the older ones can help teach the younger ones. Thus, this will make such things as potty training, dressing themselves, tying shoes et cetera a lot easier since the younger ones can watch their older brothers or sisters.
Con...the older ones can teach them bad habits.
Pro...they always have someone to rough house and play and fight with helping the parents to have a little more free time.
Con...they are always fighting and rough housing extremely rough so some of a parent's time is taken up by intervening in the fights.
Pro...hand-me-downs are readily available.
Con...boys do not want to wear their sister's clothes so you still have to buy new ones. It is not as hard with girls because some of them like to wear boys clothing anyway.
Pro...you have a built in babysitter once the oldest one gets to a certain age.
Con...by the time the oldest reaches that certain age they are into boys/girls and no longer have time to (ugh) babysit their younger siblings. And if they are forced to they fight tooth and nail.
Pro...when the oldest one gets his/her driver's license they can drive their younger siblings to places they need to go.
Con...yeah right! Dream on!
Pro...older children can help their younger brothers and sisters with homework.
Con...they can if they do their own homework that is.
Pro...if you have an older boy and younger girl, you have a protector for your daughter.
Con...if you have an older girl and younger boy, you have someone who will beat the daylights out of their little brother every time your back is turned.
Pro...toys can be handed down.
Con...that will never happen. The younger one does not want them, and the older one would rather destroy them than let the younger one have them.
Pro...(for the children) they have someone else to blame when something goes wrong.
Con...(for the parents) they have someone else to blame when something goes wrong so you have to investigate to find out the real culprit.
Pro...you have extra sets of hands to help you around the house.
Con...do you really believe that one? If you do, I have a bridge over the Atlantic Ocean I will sell you (cheap).
