A Few Quiet Restaurants to Dine at While in Boston

Nina Nixon
It's time to relax and review some of the best places to sit down for a quiet meal while in Boston. Here are my top three choices:

1. Top of The Hub

Way up high, on the 52nd floor of the esteemed Prudential Tower is the elegant, very quiet sophisticated Top of The Hub restaurant. The view of the skyline can be seen from every dining table. This view encourages a relaxed mood by calming all of your senses and shutting out the noise of the busy street activity below. Diners listen to soothing Jazz music and take in the beautiful view while they dine.

This is one of the places that tourists and locals enjoy dining for the peacefulness and romantic atmosphere as well as the great food. Referring to the Pan Seared Salmon on the dinner menu, one diner wrote, "The salmon is one of the best I've ever had." Another commented, "The view is amazing." Since the view gets rave reviews, this tops my list as one of the quietest places to eat while in Boston. Menu prices are moderate to high. Dressy attire.

The restaurant is open 7 days per week from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 a.m. Sunday Brunch starts at 11:00 a.m. Reservations are required. Located in the Back Bay Neighborhood. Top of The Hub, Back Bay Neighborhood, 800 Boylston Street, #52, Boston, MA 02116, (617) 536-1775.

2. Petit Robert Bistro Columbus Avenue

In the South End of Boston, The Petit Robert Bistro is known as one of the best French restaurants among the locals. One diner stated that the atmosphere was warm and intimate. Chicken Coq Au Fin with Buttered Noodles is just one of their delectable dishes featured on their dinner menu. Another diner said of the experience that Bistro employed "warm and friendly staff". Menu prices are moderately priced.

The restaurant is open 7 days per week from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 a.m. Reservations are accepted. Dressy attire. Located in the South End Neighborhood. Street parking and valet. Petit Robert Bistro Columbus Avenue, South End Neighborhood, 480 Columbus Avenue, Boston, MA 02215, (617) 867-0600

3. Icarus

Icarus is one of my favorite restaurants due to the old charm feel. It takes you back to historical Boston where the food and the company you kept was all that mattered. Icarus accomplishes this time travel feat by setting low candlelight on dark mission tables. This adds to the soothing ambiance of the entire dining experience. And hence, the rustic charm that mirrors traditional Boston. In the 2007 Zagat Survey, Icarus was voted #1 in the city for the best American food. Icarus continues to receive rave reviews on their delicious menu selections. One diner commented on how the duck was "particularly delicious". For your entertainment, Jazz is featured on Friday nights between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. For a night of dining with a large group of family and friends, Icarus sets aside half the dining area as a private dining room for guests. Of course, you must reserve this room well in advance. Food Prices: Moderate - High.

Located in the South End Neighborhood. Street parking and valet. Icarus, 3 Appleton Street, Boston, MA 02116, (617) 426-1790. Reservations accepted. Dressy attire.

For a special experience of relaxed quiet dining in Boston, try either The Top of The Hub, Petit Robert Bistro or Icarus. You will surely enjoy good food, a pleasant atmosphere and soothing music to complete your evening out on the town.
