A Fibromyalgia Diet

Jim Posey
A fibromyalgia diet is a way of eating that is free of certain foods that make the condition worse. It is sometime quite frustrating for people who suffer from this disease because they are limited to the choices of foods that they can indulge in. However, it is important to keep in mind that staying with this diet will lead to a diminishment of the symptoms and in the end make you feel better even though you will still suffer from fibromyalgia.

There is no rigid outline of what to eat if you are trying to ease the pain of fibromyalgia. Because the studies of the effect that diet has on fibromyalgia have been few and far between. What works to treat the pain of fibromyalgia for one person might not work as well to treat the pain for another. There are some eating habits that anyone can incorporate into their fibromyalgia eating plan to get results. This involves eating healthy foods that will be able to rid your body of the toxins that can cause increased pain levels

Foods to Stay Clear Of

1-Even though many people like to have a calorie free sweetener, try to stay away from foods sweetened with aspartame. Aspartame can possible heighten the symptoms of fibromyalgia by stimulating the pain receptors in the bodies active nervous nerve. This can have a significant rise in pain levels.

2-Make sure to keep an eye out for foods that contain nitrates, these type of foods are usually the ones that are filled with preservatives. MSG is a common flavor enhancer and it is also composed of nitrates. Nitrates have been known to act as a stimulus on pain receptors.

3-Many fibromyalgia patients have found that going gluten free has greatly helped to reduce their pain. Try eliminating baked goods containing yeast or gluten in your fibromyalgia diet. In baked goods yeast is used to make bread rise; however in the body yeast can cause a overgrowth of yeast fungus. An increase in yeast growth may enhance some of the joint pain experienced during fibromyalgia. A deduction in the amount of gluten someone is taken is can ease the fatigue that is associated with fibromyalgia,.

Your body is the ultimate measuring device when it comes to choosing a fibromyalgia diet. If the diet is reduces your pain stick with those types of foods and have enough sense to stop eating foods that make your pain worse.
