Salad
It does not matter who is preparing food on the set of an independent film production. Salad is one of the easiest dishes to prepare. If someone was hired to cook the meals, this can be done in minutes. Filmmakers can also prepare salads themselves. You do not have to be Rachael Ray or Emeril Lagasse to be able to make a salad.

This is one of the best dinner items for independent film productions. Salads can be eaten prior to the main meal or used as a full dinner. This all depends on how it is prepared. Filmmakers who are serving more items to the cast and crew for dinner can serve salad as an appetizer. There are ready-made salads available at grocery stores that can be used if no one wants to prepare one.

Fried and Baked Chicken
Chicken is one of the easiest items to make. It can be prepared in more than one hundred ways. This is a great choice for filmmakers who are looking for inexpensive dinner food for their film production. Fried chicken is a favorite among many people. This can be prepared for cast and crew members during an independent film production.

Depending on the preferences and health conditions of the cast and crew members, if may be best to offer variety. Filmmakers can offer baked chicken along with friend chicken for dinner. This will give a healthier option to actors or crew members who do not eat fried foods. If the budget allows, fish can be added to the dinner menu as well. Chicken and fish is a great dinner idea for independent film productions, whether they are baked or fried.

Cake and Cookies
Dinner would not be complete without dessert. If a film production has a lengthy schedule for the day, it is best to offer dessert for cast and crew members. Independent film productions keep everyone busy. Dinner may be the only time that people have a chance to eat well. Dessert is another great dinner idea for independent film productions.

There are many options available for dessert. Filmmakers can do a survey beforehand and offer cake selections that are popular among cast and crew members. Cakes can be made at home or purchased at a local bakery. The same process can be done with cookies as well. Chocolate chip cookies and sugar cookies can be served in addition to cake or as one sole alternative.

Beverages
While there are beverages that people usually consume in the morning, mostly anything goes for dinner. Filmmakers can offer both soda and juice as the beverage of choice during independent film productions. It is best to also have water available for cast and crew members. Water is always a good beverage no matter what is on hand during dinner. It is good for our health and prevents dehydration.

Extras
There are many extra items needed for these great dinner ideas. These items include salad dressing, dinner rolls and utensils. Filmmakers who are serving dinner in a home may be able to bypass purchasing utensils, Styrofoam plates and Styrofoam cups. This will depend on whether or not there is someone willing to wash dishes. It is best to list all of the main dishes that will be served to cast and crew members. This will allow filmmakers to determine the extra items that will be needed for each dish.
