When you enter the Bella Rose you are greeted by a warm entryway with a fireplace and a parlor that is equipped with a small fridge that houses bottled water and snacks for guest. You're welcome to keep your newly purchased bottle of local wine in the fridge to enjoy later on, or stash away your leftovers from dinner. The parlor includes a wide selection of books and DVD's to fill up some extra time on a rainy day or in the evening. Renee and Chris also have a collection of menus on hand to help narrow down your many meal options in the general vicinity. The house has been remodeled in a classic Victorian way, however it is well equipped with all modern amenities that will make your stay exceptionally comfortable.
The main dining room is located on the first floor just a few steps away from the main hallway. The elegance of the dining room will make your breakfast there feel like a royal experience. There are 3 rooms at the top of a staircase that are available for your stay. The Ann Eliza suite is the largest room of the three and is separated into two and divided by a curtain. One half houses the queen sized bed and a door that leads to a private covered patio. The other section includes a Jacuzzi soaker tub with a heated towel rack nearby, a gas fireplace, a loveseat, flatscreen HDTV and a small bath that includes a separate shower. There are numerous windows throughout the suite that give a good view of the main street and the whole house is equipped with air conditioning. Everything in the house is very elegant and new, however you still feel like you're in a very classic, Victorian-era home. This is the room my husband and I chose when we made our reservations and we were thrilled with our stay. We did a lot of outdoor activities during the day, and we spent a good portion of the evenings relaxing in the room- there was so much to enjoy about this suite!
Evie's Chamber is a mid-sized, cheerful yellow room that fills with sunshine in the morning and afternoon. It includes a warming stove within a small sitting area, and a separate bath with a jet-tub. A television is also featured in this room.
Nelle's Hideaway is the smallest of the three rooms but is still spacious and warm enough for an extended stay. It is decorated in nature tones, has a television, seating area, and a bath with a shower only. It's perfect for a couple on a budget who plans to do a lot of sightseeing and wish to retreat back to their room in the evening.
Each morning you are welcome to stop in the dining room at approximately 9 or 10 o'clock (depending on how many other guests there are) and coffee and tea are set up and waiting for you. You may seat yourself at the large table and you are greated by your hospitable hosts who ask for your choice of beverage (Different juices are available besides the coffee and tea). Then you are served freshly baked scones, muffins or sweet breads. We were lucky enough to dine on Renee's famous scones both mornings we were there. They were magnificent and warm (Both days we were there we enjoyed the chocolate chip and orange glazed scones). Renee was nice enough to give me the recipe before we left (And is nice enough to hand out recipes for any of the food she makes) and they are a huge hit with all my family members whenever I make them. We also dined on poached pears, a multi layer egg dish and peach pancakes. After each breakfast we were stuffed and had to retreat back to our room for a bit just to relax and digest before heading out. Special accommodations can be made for anyone with dietary restriction as long as prior notice is given.
Once your leisurely breakfast is completed there are a lot of things to do in the area. The Sonnenberg Gardens are beautiful and include a winery, gift shop with many bottles of wine available for purchase, and a mansion on site that you can tour (www.sonnenberg.org). The NYS Wine and Culinary Center was a lot of fun as well. We enjoyed a lovely dinner with a waterfront view and some classic Crème Brulet. The Center also offers classes and food and wine tastings during the day. You can find out more information by visiting www.nywcc.com. The immediate area around the Bella Rose has a ton of different restaurants to try and many shops so you can really make a whole day out of walking up and down the Main Street.
The Bella Rose Bed and Breakfast is the ideal place for a relaxing and romantic getaway. The prices per night are very reasonable in comparison with other bed and breakfasts of its kind and all the activities and attractions in the area are just as reasonable. For an entire weekend trip you won't be spending very much, especially if you take into account you're receiving a gourmet breakfast each morning. I would highly recommend the Bella Rose Bed and Breakfast. It is a great experience staying in a Bed and Breakfast and whether it is your first time staying in one, or you're an avid bed and breakfast goer, this one will be at the top of your list. The second morning we stayed at the Bella Rose we had breakfast with a couple who frequented many bed and breakfasts across the country. They raved about how the Bella Rose rated in comparison to the others. My husband and I both agreed it was one of the best places we have stayed at. We both reminisce about it often as we used the trip as a mix between the honeymoon we never took, our 1 year anniversary celebration and a babymoon. We would love to go back someday when our son is a little older and we can getaway for a weekend to relax! For more information you can visit the Bella Rose online at www.Bellarosebb.com. Room availability is also listed on the website.
