A Fly in My Sleep

Diane
While driving down the road one day,
I was driven crazy by a speck.
It was a winged thing,
Which buzzed and hummed.
I wanted it,
Dead as heck.

I imagined its guts all yellow and smeared,
I recoiled from the sight,
Then the road ahead,
Just disappeared.

Suddenly, I woke up.
I heard my lovers gentle,
So I knew I was in my bed.

Then the buzzing noise began,
The humming too.
I froze, I panicked.
I didn't know what to do.
I fought to gain control of my thoughts.

Murder would not enter here.
Then once more I slept,
And I dreamed, of inane things and fears.
