Strange as it is, I assume that a higher being (possibly aliens) had taken compassion regarding Linda's (Sandra Bullock) loss & put her into another alternate dimension. The least she could do for viewers not to feel a bit lost in the beginning of the Premonition movie is for her to check the dates. Things become stranger & stranger for her, not to mention the viewers as she wakes up from her sleep the next day to find her family & relatives ready for Jim's (Julian McMahon) funeral in her home living room.
Linda (Sandra Bullock) fails to see Jim's (Julian McMahon) body which is somehow connected to the ending of the Premonition movie. What is worst is that her mum, Joanne (Kate Nelligan) blames her for the scars on her eldest daughter, Bridgette Hanson's (Courtney Taylor Burness) face.
The actor for the Doctor Norman Roth character, Peter Stormare in the movie makes the doctor look like a mad doctor; scruffy, thug like & not in proper appearance of a doctor. The scum sucking, money digging doctor who has not the faintest idea of the situation seems more interested in selling powerful prescription drugs & expensive ongoing consultations for as long as possible rather than trying to understand her suffering.
Every alternate day, Linda (Sandra Bullock) finds her husband alive & her life become normal again for the day in the Premonition movie. It also seems that she receives a second chance to save her husband's life. Once she remembers about the existence of the western calendar, her current nightmarish daily experiences come into perspective & she realizes that her days of happiness with her husband are numbered. From the look of Jim's intimidated face, it is not a surprise to find out that Jim (Julian McMahon) was planning to cheat on her with his female assistant manager, Claire (Amber Valetta) from his workplace during the so called road trip.
As usual, Sandra Bullock carries the movie successfully on her own & in every scene of the Premonition movie. Overall, the background music is good. However, there is some background music especially in the raining scene seem over dramatic. It leads to her eldest daughter, Bridgette Hanson (Courtney Taylor Burness) running face first into the glass which partially justifies the need for musical suspense. To me, the particular music is suitable for scenes like a major earthquake & other catastrophes of a larger magnitude. Notably, the Premonition movie can be categorized as a family movie because there are no sexually explicit scenes.
So much so, Linda's husband Jim still dies in the ending of the Premonition movie & it was somehow partially her fault too. The ending makes me wonder whether there is actually a point to the Premonition movie. The Premonition movie seems to be a pointless merry go round regarding a catastrophic accident involving a middle income family.
At the end of the movie Linda is pregnant. She may have known that she may lose him yet again, so at least she has another baby from him. The moral of the story which is probably the point of the Premonition movie is that even when given the chance, one has no power to control one's or another's fate.
