Building a pond is an easy task that can take only a few hours when done properly. Ponds are a pleasant looking decoration for any space and environment. Placing a pond in your backyard or in the front of your house can fill the place with beauty. Not only that, but they are a more natural way to decorate a space, including plants and bird feeders and other such items to insinuate a feeling of uniformity and peacefulness.

Step #1 - Placement

The first thing you need to determine before building a pond is where you will be placing it. It should definitely be placed in an area where you can easily see it and appreciate its beauty. One such place is your backyard. You can either place it in a far away corner of your backyard or make it a center spot for decorations around it. You can even choose to place it in a place where you can see it at all times, even when you are inside your house.

Step #2 - Liner

When building a pond it is important to choose a liner before you begin your digging. This is important so that you can determine beforehand the exact shape and depth of the hole that you will be digging to place the pond in. There are usually two kinds of liners to choose from. One kind is a performed liner also known as a soft liner, and the other is a preform liner. The preform line tends to be more durable and less complicated to install. It is also easier to clean and hardly has any conception problems. Now you have determined the depth of the pond, how big it will be and where it will be placed. Before you move on, make sure that your plan conforms with landscape planning of the community that you reside in. You can check with the local authorities to verify that.

Step #3 - Digging

Now that you have done all the measurements and bought all the materials, you are getting closer to finish building a pond. The next step involves the actual digging and before you move on to that you will need to trace the form of your pond on the space you are building it. Now keep the measurement of the depth in mind and dig at least two inches deeper than the actual depth measurement. These two inches should be filled with sand to protect the liner from rocks and to provide a better ground for the liner to stand in.

Step #4 - Electricity

Now you will be placing the actual equipment to run the water system inside the pond, and this is a crucial step in building a pond. For this step you will need electricity and it is highly recommended to get this done professionally unless you are merely using an extension cord to run the system. You also have a choice of getting a solar pump. In this case, no electric wire connectivity is needed, however you still may want professional help. After installed, slowly add water to the pond and make sure the pump is working smoothly.

Step #5 - Decorating

This is the step that people usually have fun with the most when building a pond. The hard part is over with and at this point all you need to concern yourself with is making the pond look nicer according to your preference. It is recommended to try to make your pond look as natural as possible. Begin with hiding all of the wires leading up to the pond and the actual liner. You might want to consider installing some solar light for your pond to shine at night time. The only limit in this step is your imagination, so push it as far as you like! You can always upgrade, change or rearrange anything that you might like later on.

With these five fun and easy steps, you will find building a pond to be an enjoyable and rewarding experience that you won't regret.

There are a lot of factors to consider before building r pond. I just recently finished building a pond with the help of a few friends and all the products i needed from www.thepondwarehouse.com. I was able to get everything done in a few days with relative ease. I would highly recommend The Pond Warehouse and highly encourage anybody who is thinking about installing a pond to do so!
