A Fun Halloween Activity for the Office!

'You've Been Booed!'

October is right around the corner. Soon it will be time for Jack-O-Lanterns, witches, ghosts and goblins not to mention treats and a few tricks or two ;) For those of you who work in an office environment, if you really want to spread a little Halloween cheer this year, there is no better activity than the 'You've Been Booed!' gift basket game.

'You've Been Booed!' is a Halloween activity that has really been catching on in offices and neighborhoods all accross the country for the past several years now. Sort of a cousin to the 'Secret Santa' gifts around Christmastime, a 'Boo' gift is a gift basket or bag filled with all sorts of Autumn and Halloween themed treats like candy, decorations, toys, and other assorted goodies. The object of the game is to get everyone in your workplace 'Booed' before Halloween, thus you will need to start the game on or around October 1st.

To start the Boo game, you will need to print off a little sign which reads 'You Have Been Booed!'. This website has some really great templates which are free to use and print. Buy a Halloween or Autumn themed gift bag or basket (or even a plastic Jack-O-Lantern) and fill it up with treats! Some really great 'Boo' treats ideas include synthetic cobwebs, Halloween candy of any kind, stickers, candles, decorations, miniuture pumpkins, and any little 'trinket' type knick-knacks (be sure to keep the treats gender-neutral and inoffensive; i.e. no severed plastic hands or anything too gory as these are your co-workers) and I always find some really inexpensive treats at Walgreen's or craft stores such as Hobby Lobby which are perfect little gifts. Stick the little sign you have printed in the bag along with the treats and leave on your co-worker's desk ANONYMOUSLY. The person you give it to will have one day to create a Boo gift for someone else (the print out will have directions on what that person needs to do) and so on and so on. Once everyone in the office has been 'Booed' then it officially ends the game for another Halloween season.

About three years ago, a lady I work with started the 'You've Been Booed!' game at our office and it has now become a tradition we all look forward to every October. Over time, you will acquire a nice assortment of Halloween decorations and it is always a joy to find a little gift bag on your desk waiting for you when you come in to work. This is an exellent way to spread some fun, Halloween cheer as well as boost the morale of your workplace. You will feel so happy for making someone's day just a little more 'spooktacular'! Have a Happy and Safe Halloween!

Boo!
