A Funny and Thoughtful Thanksgiving Poem

Michelle K. Miller
The turkey's done and out of the oven

It's time to show this food some lovin'

The head of the table tells everyone bow to say "grace"

Then to get back to football, the men shovel in food like a race

Turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes

Biscuits, mac and cheese, stewed tomatoes

Green beans, corn, and pumpkin pie

Oh so much food, that afterward, you want to curl up and die

Mom asks if anyone wants another go 'round

Moans and groans of death by food are the sounds

This Thanksgiving poem is intended to make you think

About not taking for granted all the things we have to eat and drink

So when you're around the table on Thanksgiving Day

Think of those who are less fortunate, and for them, please pray

At least yours was really about Thanksgiving. My poem was kind of Obama-centric. Hehe. Besides, you kick Dr. Suess' butt.
