Wii consoles are the hottest system this year and it's not just children and teens that are begging to have this gift under their tree Christmas morning, but parents and even grandparents alike.

Wii is great fun for the whole family. Better to get a little exercise while playing a fairly mindless game and still having fun without becoming an overweight potato couch from your endless hours of gaming. So let's pick up the pace and talk about this new game, Wii Sports Resort, that came out on shelves in North American in July of 2009.

Wii Sports Resort aka. Wii Supōtsu Rizōto as known in Japan where this game is amazingly popular due to the country's advanced technology and famed gameplay which reflects on their intelligence based culture. Did you know in Japan that the champion of this game, Wii Sports Resort will be as popular as a movie star or our best athlete? The best player in Japan is determined by competitions that can last days in a huge stadium with a massive audience watching their every move. The winner becomes Japan's hottest new gamer and is a very sought after position and respectable custom.

There has been a bit of a controversy stewing over Wii Sports Resort as it is not a typical one person shooter or official PGA Golf Tournament game. It is a game created of mini-games, similar to the Mario Party series although this game as stated in the title is all about sports. It's unique smooth and simple graphics and lack of interesting audio brew the fight against it's highly calculated interactive gameplay. Bottom line is, even if it looks sort of simple and like something your grandma would buy, we have to admit it is pretty fun.

Using your unique Wii Remote with Wii MotionPlus makes this game and system in a league of it's own. It mimics your body movement, much like a virtual reality video game. This is the future of VR we all dreamed of, only it came a bit quicker and created to be selling product for the masses, convenient size and shape and controlled by the palm of your hand and body movement.

Your up for the challenge of Wii Sports Resort and headed out to "Wuhu Island" for a day of Wii gaming and you have your running shoes on. So what sports can you play? Pick from a variety of 12 different sports ranging on turf from water, to the courts, to sand and even in the air. With air sports, swordplay, cycling, frisbee, archery, table tennis, power cruising, canoeing, basketball, bowling and golf, where will you start?

I suggest archery but everyone has their favorite Wii Sports Resort game. I like archery for the feel of the pull on the arrow and the release, then when you shoot the arrow you hear them whiz by your head, just like when practicing real archery.

Pros of this video game include the following.

-Easy to Navigate
-Appealing to all ages & varieties of people.
-Multiplayer use Is amazing & fun with friends.
-Lots of mini-games for hours of play.
-Precise controls and realistic aspects.
-Getting the exercise!

Cons of the video game Wii Sports Resort include the following.

-Not much range or individuality in audio and music.
-Monotone but clean graphics (Not really blow your mind effect.)
-Can be boring and not appealing for one player usage.

My overall opinion of the game? Two thumbs up, literally when you are shooting for those hoops on your copy of Wii Sports Resort.

Wii Sports Resort is perfect for all around family fun and exercise encouraging gameplay. This can be great for seniors and couch potato kids too and a fun workout for mom. Buy a Wii Fit gaming console this holiday season and make it from Santa to your whole family. That way everybody wins. This may be the only video game I have ever known that almost everyone, everywhere can agree on.

Don't take my advice though, try it out for yourself and play Wii Sports Resort this weekday with the whole family.
