A Gardener's Review of the Sears Craftsman Gasoline Weedwacker

For a Lightweight and Super Tough Weedtrimmer, Try the Craftsman 2-cycle Weedwacker. With This Trimmer You Don't Need to Have the Strength of the Jolly Green Giant or the Bulging Muscles of the Incredible Hulk to Spend Some Serious Time Trimming Overgrown

Most people put the weedwacker in storage in fall, but here in our area it's a great time to clean those areas that you might be hesitant to enter in summer because of bee activity. In autumn the bee season is over. Having turned the trimmer loose over live and active yellow-jacket, in-the-ground, hidden nests and the "too-big" papery gray homes of hornets, built low and concealed in long-neglected high weeds, this gardner prefers the "after" bee season for clean-up in overgrown areas. Bees don't appreciate noisy intruders in their happy homes and will only resort to self-defense if they have too. Weedwackers and bees can live together in harmony with a little advance planning!

For places where the mower just won't work, the Sears Craftsman Weedwacker will. To begin work always start with a fresh clean gas mix. Mix gasoline and Craftsman brand synthetic oil at a ratio of 40:1. This one easy step is important for an "always easy" start. Model no. 358.791030 is our favorite by far in the vast weedtrimmer offerings. We've tried many kinds and discovered there is a real difference in trimmers. A trimmer that is heavy to carry and hard to start will not be used much and will soon be sitting alone growing cobwebs somewhere while the Sears Craftsman Weedwacker is out there easily doing the job.

Starting the engine;

1. Move the switch to the "on" position.
2. Slowly press the primer bulb 6 times (the primer bulb removes air from the carburetor and fuel lines and fills them with fuel).
3. This unit has the Sim-pul starting system - pull the starter rope and the engine starts.

With the Sears Craftsman Weedwacker the time seems to fly as the weeds fly. One or two hours cleaning around the iris garden and the berry patch with a coffee-break in between, than a gas refill and back to work, does not leave the gardner with an aching shoulder. Plus, a string refill only takes minutes as the spool is easily removed by pulling on the tap button, winding on two lines of 0.080 Craftsman line and popping the spool back into place.

We've used our Sears Craftsman Weedwacker for a lot of work and have never had to consult the 'troubleshooting" section because this valuable yard tool does what it is advertised to do.

Wear safe, good-fitting shoes for yard work. Treat yourself good! Old worn-out shoes delegated to the role of "garden shoes" are an invitation to a slip or a fall and maybe even an injury. Toss the worn-out shoes in the trash and get comfortable! Yard work should be fun!

Always wear safety glasses and keep children, bystanders, and animals 50 feet away when using weedtrimmers.
