A Gay Christian: An Oxymoron

Sabianpro28
I am a 28 year old elementary teacher from Delaware. There have been recent discussions about learning how to accept a Christian person even if he or she is gay, but I have an opposing view. To me this statement is an oxymoron. The reason why I say this is because the bible explicitly speaks on this issue in Leviticus 18:22. It says that homosexuality is an "abomination" to god. That means that God hates it. It is detestable and disgusting. A true Christian that is "Christ-like," would not do anything that the Lord is not pleased with, definitely not commit acts that are disgusting in His eyes.

As Christians we should try to emulate Christ as much as possible. We all sin, but we are not supposed to knowingly sin and refused to change if we know that we are involved in an immoral, ungodly lifestyle. One who professes to be a Christian should have certain characteristics such chastity, modesty, and honesty.
Another reason why homosexuals can not be Christians is become their lifestyle is an iniquity in God's eyes. That means homosexuality is a continuous gross and wicked act before God. In the book of Genesis, God destroyed the city of Sodom and Gomorrah because of their iniquity. Their iniquity was homosexuality. Genesis 19-14-29 retells the story of Abraham and Lot witnessing the city where they live being destroyed.

The good new is that someone who is gay is not doomed to hell if he or she repents and changes his or her ways. God is an Almighty, loving forgiving God, but he is firm and clear on what is sin. If you are gay and you are reading this, don't be discouraged because their is hope for you. I didn't write this to judge or condemn anyone that may be homosexual, but I wanted to write it for someone that is sick of their immoral lifestyle, but doesn't know how to change. You may have talked to gay supporters, but deep down inside, you know this lifestyle is wrong. I'd like to ask you to reach out to God. Repent of your sins and God will definitely hear you. He doesn't love or respect one person over another, He just wants you to live in obedience for Him. So before you dismiss this article as another article to "bash" gays, please read it in its entirety and consider what I am saying.

So author et al, when did you choose to be a heterosexual? Moreover, when did you decide it was okay to cherry pick the Bible for your erroeous self-righteous lies and hate?

You are very quick to quote Leviticus and condemn homosexuals, but have you examine the other parts of that same chapter? (For example, are you just as concerned about making sure that rebellious children are stoned to death?)

As one who has beeen through the so-called ex-gay programs (I was also executive director of one such ministry), I can tell you they are a joke.

As a gay Christian, I may be an Oxymoron, but take the "oxy" off and that would be how I view your unenlightened rants.

What does casting a stone have to do with the article for which the comment has been made? This post is about Homosexuality referenced in the Bible, and how people who commit the act can make a change. The person posting this, in my opinion, is trying to inform and help those who partake in this particular sin. There is no judgement (throwing stones) here, merely statements and biblical support about the Homosexual act being a sin.

Despite considering it to be one of the most sorrily contrived tools of brainwashing in the world today, I will reference your own bible in rebuttal; "But Jesus stooped down, and with His finger wrote on the ground, as though He heard them not. So when they continued asking Him, He lifted up Himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again He stooped down, and wrote on the ground."
